Hey guys,

I'm an Civ veteran since Civ I - awesome game I have to say, good job.

Here is my problem: the game is crashing in a late game phase, the save game is attached. I tried it 3 times, did choose different politics, but the result is always the same.

Other topic: my game is installed on a SSD, but it takes about a minute to load a save game. Pretty long, will you improve this?

Thanks,
Uli

Have you resolved that , looks like that WINDOWS DEFENDER problem , if you have Windows 10 ... turn Windows Defender OFF while you play CIV VI or make an exception for the WHOLE CIV VI GAME AND !!! the save directory ... google it how to do that :-) , if you don't know
Wish you luck

I don't use Windows Defender (it's deactivated) and have played the game until this round for about 20 hours. That seems not to be the problem.

I have the same problem. It's a second game I cannot complete because game exits without any error message. Save files attached. I noticed that both times it's when the trade route window is opened. Game hangs for few seconds an the exits.

Just found on other thread: this happens when trader is selected when changing civics. I have selected a different unit, changed civics and game is not crashing any more.:)

Same trouble here... first time, i conquer and raze a city... and game crash... second time, i conquer and keep city, next turn i rejected the peace proposal of former owner... and game crash... third time, i conquer and keep city, next turn i accepted the peace proposal, then next turn... and game crash... Now I have no more means to avoid crash... :mad:

All times are APPCRASH...

Anyone have any suggestions? Help me and villages will give you settlers for the next 50 turns... :D

As I already reported, in turn 608, the game stopped working (APPCRASH) after I conquered a city. First time, i conquer and raze a city... and game crash... second time, i conquer and keep city, next turn i rejected the peace proposal of former owner... and game crash... third time, i conquer and keep city, next turn i accepted the peace proposal, then next turn... and game crash...

I did all the basic procedures:
- check the integrity of the files through Steam;
- uninstall and reinstall DIRECTX;
- uninstall and reinstall Vcredist;
- run Steam as administrator;
- uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Visual C ++ 2012 and 2015 Runtime Libraries;
- update the video card drivers;
- disable the anti-virus;
- create an exception for Civ 6 in Windows Defender and then disable Windows Defender;
- playing without sound;
- play with the minimum video settings;
- play in window (not full screen).

I'm a stubborn player, so I insisted on the same game. If I load the auto save file, I can play one turn and then the game crash again. In this way, I managed to play from turn 608 to turn 618.

Since the game manages to save the start of the new turn automatically, I was able to prove that the problem did not happen at the end of the previous turn, nor during the routines of barbarians and AIs. The problem occurs exactly at the beginning of the next turn, after the game saves automatically (if the auto save is on).

I do not have anything to try (sorry for my bad english).

update from K2 i found on steam

Hi Timothy,
Thank you for providing some additional insight into your issue. The crash you're experiencing is a known issue that we are working towards a solution for. However, a workaround for your issue has been discovered. This is of course not a true solution, but may allow you to bypass the issue for now.
• A discovered workaround is to declare war on the Civilization that is causing the crash right before they end their turn. This seems to alleviate the crashing in most instances.
The development team has been notified of this issue and are currently working toward a solution. However, we do not have visibility on their progress here in customer support, and therefore don't have a timeline on when a fix will be implemented.
As soon as that information will be available, our players will be the first to know. I suggest that you keep an eye on our @2K and @2KSupport Twitter pages for any updates.
If you have any additional issues or questions, please let us know.
Best regards,

"Hello my name is Lobster Johnson, Here to bring justice."

I played with Scythia and had a really fun game in King difficulty. I went for Domination victory, but won the game with culture I think. I dont know, skipped the video instantly and it was so fun I continued playing
with the "One more turn." button. So I won the game again with culture after some point even though I was fighting all the time and using all my resources on that. Continued because I wanted an end for this
great battle. I eliminated Japan and Gorgo Greece is left and I can eliminate her almost immediately.So I won so why all this trouble?

I want a proper closure for my great battle. It wasnt as easy as it looks now of course. And this bug seems similar to the rest.

The crash happens when i click next turn, a white screen shows up for less than a second. And then Civ is closed and Im in Windows. This happens always.

The before mentioned declaring war on the civ thats causing the problem. Greece is the single civ there is left and Im allready at war with them. I tried making peace and eveything to cause the war again. But you know, its turn end and all my troops are used. The only diplomatic stuff I can do is denouce them, which doesnt work. And cant declare war only because of that.

BTW, I dropped a nuke from a bomber (only thing left with move points) on one of their cities which was allready nuked. It didnt do anything. Didn't cause war.

Thanks for reading, I hope this gets fixed. Theres a lot of these crashes in the game, but I have completed 2 games before. So after the crash previously, I reload and can continue.

And hey! It's a final tested game, with even additional content to buy. You need to address this issue and all the serious ones very fast. Add more people to your bug fixing team and
make it fast. Also keep informing people about bug fixes like much faster and answer to these reports much faster. This report was made on October 31st and the first answer came on September
24th. Thats a long time.

60 euros here in Finland. Right.

Sorry for the whine, but Its 2K and Firaxis. And its a great "allmost finished" game.

Best regards,
Lobster

My game is crashing while processing the AI's turn. I can't proceed - I have gone back a few turns and did a few things differently, but no luck. I was enjoying this game too.

Same here. Can reproduce it. Does it at the exact same time. Sent bug reports to Firaxis as requested by a pop-up dialogue box.

What a joke, after the money I spent on this steaming pile of poop.

Hello

Look, this problem and similar game ending problems have been reported alot. Still no proper answer from tech support and nothing even like "we have noticed these and are working for a fix".

Tech support, wake up.

Thanks and sorry for being so demanding. This is a full priced released version. Not an early access.

I'm getting this problem also. Sent the crash reports, but it puts me off playing happens for different reasons so not much I can do to avoid the crash condition.

The only "workaround" I read somewhere is that when your savefile gets into the always-crash state, load any save, same game or other and play it for a couple of rounds. Now for example I loaded an older game save and played it for maybe 10-15 rounds and saved all the time. Then I exited into the main menu and loaded my save from current game but a bit older than the crash-save. Continued, and it didnt crash again. I could finish the game with no game ending crashes.

Was this clear at all? Did you know about this kind of strange workaround?

Just load an older save, same game or different. Play it for awhile. And save and exit. Load the current games save file which ended in the always-crash state. But if I remember correctly I loaded like 5-10 turns previous.

This is the only way I could finish two of my last games.

Maybe try it unless theres allready a better solution.

Cheers,
Lobster Johnson

Thank you I'll try that out next time it crashes, I've set the autosaves to very 10 turns so if I go back a couple I should be okay?

Hi

Yes, go 20 turns back or try with 10. You are going to do it so that you load a previous older save of the same game. If this results in a crash again its a bit shame.
You see I don't really know exactly what works 100% and what doesn't. So, if you still want to try again after that, load a save from a different game and play that
for awhile. I mean if you now have a game with Russia see if you have older save files when playing some other civilization. That worked for me too.

Allright, hope this actually helps someone. I think it should. After all, my game ending crash situations happen in similar situations as most that are mentioned here.

And don't overwrite your save files accidently. :D

Thanks,
Lobster Johnson

Interesting. I'll give this a try. sounds like loading up a different save and playing for several turns is clearing some cached content somewhere. If this actually works, it would be nice to hear something from 2k.

I'm curious if this tactic would simply work in starting a new game and playing for 10-20 turns as well.

either way, the random game crash to desktop when hitting 'next turn' after several hundred has basically made the game unplayable. Likely the reason the strategy forum is so dead. with any luck, there are some fixes for us in upcoming weeks.
