Game lock-up

I have this problem where a few turns after i get the satellite the game locks up totally. One time when moving from one continet to the other(revealed by the satellite) and one while in my own land.

The menu's, my mouse, my cities, recourses and even some of the land itself dissappears and only the sound is still active. I have too CTR+ALT+DEL to stop the not responding game.

I have a Geforce FX 5900 Ultra with the latest drivers
3.2 GHZ dual Core AMD
Onboard sound
1GB RAM

All I can say is wait for the first patch that fixes it. There are at least 5 or 6 major bugs that make the game unplayable or near-unplayable. This might or might not be related to one of the other similar bugs people have run into.

Uhm, the patch 1.09 doesn't fix it. Still got the same problem.
