Game of Thrones / ASOIAF Mod (v 0.1)

Then maybe we should start the mod earlier than when TheBeast wanted to start it, because if the Stark troops are already south of the neck there's no build up left to do. We could start it at the moment Robb has to make the decision, which means you could decide to wait before riding south (or raise the banners as soon as possible, only the lannisters and tully should have troops other than city guards at first).
 
Hello all,

I've joined this site because I'm in the process of downloading and trying the original version of the mod. I'd like to add my support to your efforts to update the mod. I've no experience in creating mods myself, so I can't offer useful technical support, but I can offer other kinds of help and moral support.

I'm a doctorate candidate in modern literature and actually wrote an MA thesis that featured A Song of Ice and Fire, so if you need help with information about the world etc please feel free to contact me.
 
I think we might need some help to write the 'pedia in the long term, so it's great to have you along !
 
Graphics would also be something we need help with. Currently we need a dungeon, moat, and a few others, plus some of the buildings from the world such as a completed Harrenhal maybe?

I know moat and dungeon already exist in Rise of Mankind but I cannot find the graphics they used in that mod anywhere.
 
I can't blame you, I haven't worked on the map for weeks. I think it says something on their forum along the lines of "you can use anything in this mod as long as you credit us for it", so I'm sure you can ask Afforess by PM and he'll be happy to help.

To reduce the size of the download and increase speed in game the graphics are stored in the .FPK files in the Assets folder of The Rise of Mankind mod. You need PakBuild to pack and unpack the are. One warning the scrolling bar that should tell you how things are progressing is not accurate especially on unpack.
 
The mod is currently a polished version of this scenario (Here). We've been trying to do something better but I can't seem to find the time... I think the link on the first page of this thread works, if not I can send you my verstion of the mod.
 
Part of the problem with the download is that it is very large. This is because it is a scenario in a larger mod so it contains all the units and buildings of that larger mod even though they are not used in the scenario. Cutting out all this extra stuff first may allow you to post the smaller mod and give people who want to help something to work with.

Where do I put the downloaded file, once downloaded as I can't seem to get it to register with the game.

It's in program files/.../beyond the sword/mods, unless you have the game on steam where it would be steam/steamapps/Civilization IV/Beyond the sword/mods
 
Unzip it with 7zip or winrar, then place it in the folder.
 
For Civ IV Complete the shortcut is incorrect. You have to go into the properties and fix it. Once I fixed the shortcut it wouldn't load. It wouldn't load by going into Beyond the Sword and clicking Load a Mod/Game of Thrones. What is up with the loading? Unrelated but is this closer to the books or the TV show cause I love the books but hate the tv show.
This is the correct properties for the Shortcut
"Target" needs to be cahnged to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=/Game of Thrones
"Start in" needs to be changed to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword"
I don't know what the mod=/Game of Thrones is in "Target" so I didn't mess with that.
 
It exists under the 2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword folder normally.

And there's no way you can base a mod on the military situation of the show, because it is (almost) never clearly explained.
 
its been a long time since i logged in here, I made a pretty good world map to work for bigE's mod (which faded from time).

Check the link for the map and the original thread where we discussed some options for the mod (i was an advocate of multiple types of horse troops).
