So I installed Civ IV along with BtS on my laptop (Intel Core 2 Solo 1,4GHz, 4GB RAM, some integrated graphics, Windows 7 64-bit) and it runs choppy as hell.

Even at the very beginning of the game with the lowest graphics settings, with fog of war all around, I get ~11-15 FPS.

I know this laptop is not meant for gaming, but it should more than enough cover the minimum requirements.

Is my laptop really that weak or is there any way to fix this problem?

your computer is at the low end of the specs - especially the processor. But the main problem seems to be that there is only a generic graphics driver installed - try to get the correct one for your graphics card :)

I tried installing one from here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18244&ProdId=2991&lang=eng , but it didn't give any noticeable improvements. So it seems that I can't play this game on my laptop? Thanks for the help anyway! :p

Yup, I put everything on the lowest and it's still about 15 FPS. I could reduce my resolution from my native to squeeze a few extra FPS, but it would add ugly black bars on the sides, so it's a no-no.

Inspecting my dxdiag log I noticed that my video only has 64 MB dedicated memory. Is there any way to increase that and would it make an improvement?
