Game Saturn

So basically, my continent has Amethyst, Plako, Toch (closest to me from what I can tell so far) and me. There's definitely 2 continents, as one of the FOUR maps I popped from huts revealed another landmass which has a very long coastline.... The other continen has Elucidus and Hercules. Of course, additional people may be on each landmass.

Buddhism/Hinduism already? I'm still trying to get through Bronze Working...

As for the score increase, it seems that sone civs' scores went up by more than others. I have no idea why...maybe because of land/coast issues?

Well, that long coastline might be attached around a loop to your own continent... there's no way to actually tell until you've explored the whole of your continent, which I kind of doubt you've done at turn 20 when there's room for at least 4 people there. ;)

Most likely, yeah. I was just thinking of this. Those with coastal capitals will not gain as many land tiles with each new border pop, so their score due to land won't go up as much each time.

You're forgetting that I popped 4 maps. :mischief:

Ah, right. Well, better than 4 techs I guess (at least from the perspective of the rest of us). :p

better than 30 barbs.
 Now that would be tough luck. Although it'd be nearly impossible to achieve, since you'd have to have the barbs walk away rather than attack each time you got a hut. (Or else use 6 different units.) :p

Back in my day we only got two huts and had to walk through ice and tundra in the rain to get to them
Luxury! We used to get only one hut, and we had to get up at 3 o'clock in the morning to rush to it - through peaks and icebergs. And after we got the hut, if we survived the resulting barbarian hordes that knocked us senseless, we set up camp and were thrashed to sleep by our commanders.

Four Yorkshiremen. :D

I still have that hut buried away in the tundra... I know as soon as I touch it like six barbarians are gonna pop out and have nowhere to go but down to me.

Almost half the civs all together on one land mass... interesting. Wonder if it'll be the same for the other half. :)

Well I found the west coast of my continent now, so apparently I'm on the northern tip of some skinny continent. (well skinny where I am)

Might limit my expansion options but it'll make defense easier I guess.

eh? whats up with "the old days" and huts? were there significantly less in earlier patches or warlords/vanilla?

also i've seen somewhere that huts disappear and some connection to bronze working...is that when someone researches bw? or when you research bw? or is there no connection?
what about huts i can already see, will they disappear too?

The ancient traveller knew many things about the world around him and the villages that were thriving upon the far corners of the earth... for he had travelled far and wide, heard many tales from the wind and waves, understood the form of the world. His knowledge was not perfected, but what new knew he wished to share. He found himself some papyrus trees, some dyes, and he began... -- c. 3160 BC

Just had very little to do today and you get antsy waiting for your turn so I decided to scroll through the thread and make a very vague map of the world. All it pretty much does right now and organize the players by who they've met, if you haven't met anyone it assumes you're isolated until proven otherwise.

Obviously outside of my own map (and a little from clamburger) I have no idea what your areas look like and where in the hemisphere you're located. Feel free to give more details (obviously not anything too exact though) as I'll probably be making more versions later as I'm sure it'll be very interesting to compare to the final map in the later game. I did not have very much to go by!

Nice ! i like it :)

but looks like your ancient traveler was little bit drunk when he visited our land mass :D

He can't swim over there! Do you know how hard it is to judge shape and distance based solely on clouds and waves?!

(update: swapped ameth/plako's position due to toch finding plako first, and added religious icons)

No, it's a joke based on a Monty Python skit reference. :)

Huts never "disappear". However, if you sit around for too long, somebody else will get the huts around you, so you'll miss out on them.

Very cool. Although I'm closer to the equator. I also suspect that no-one will be alone (or at least, I hope that). Should be interesting to see what happens. :)

What did you use to make the map, by the way? Looks like some kind of software...
