I have recently found my Civ4 Complete disk and thought I'd dust it off for a blast from the past. Anyway, I've now got an issue where I don't really know where to progress.
If I have done it correctly, my game save should be attached. It crashes for me on load up - I can't play a turn or anything, it just bombs.
It is Civ4 BTS with latest patches, and using the Rise of Mankind mod. I have tried the save on my shonky laptop, which I thought was the issue, but my beefier PC also does exactly the same thing at exactly the same time, so I am doubting its a hardware error. Is it possible for saves to corrupt? The game loads an image of the map I am playing before crashing which I would guess means its not a total corruption. Older game saves seem to do a similar thing after a short while, and BTS now seems to bomb out on me when I get about 30 minutes in to any game (other saves, or new games). This again happens on both shoddy laptop and PC.
I have tried full uninstalls of Civ4 Complete and mods, but its still playing up. I must admit, I am more confused by the fact that it is happening on two machines more than anything. Any feedback greatly appreciated.
