I ask because my craphics card is nVidia 8800 GT (directX 10) and when I try to run the DX10/11 version it slows down significantly.
(other specs are Core2Quad Q9400 2.66, 4 GB ram, Win7 64-bit).

For me it was the other way around (GTX260). What might be the reason, that the default settings for DX10/11 were WAY more demanding than for DX9. When maxed out both modes, i found DX10/11 to be faster :)

Okay, I just visited the 2k support thread and it says my GFX card is "just above the recommended level". So... is it a bug that it's so choppy?

dx10 is pretty demanding, i wouldn't recommend it with a 8800GT. seriously...
try running any other game in dx10 with that card and you'll get a slideshow. just use dx9.

had the same issue running on a 9800 GTX....

updated the driver, and the problem went away.......

I played way more demanding games than this one (COD4, for example).

Will try to update driver, thanks.

but COD4 is not DX10, it's DX9.

if you want to know how much performance hit a game takes, try running crysis with DX9 vs DX10 with your card and you'll understand what i'm trying to say.

Installing the new drivers fixed the issue for me. Works great with full effects and 2xAA.
I'm not buying a game just to be a gfx card reference, I'm not in the C-games review business anymore!

Hey guys,

I have an 8800M GTS, and i have the same exact problem as the OP. So updating the driver did it for you? I get amazing results on DX9 but DX10 looks nicer (I know my card doesn't support DX11).

DX10/11 is unplayable for me on my 8800 GTS. The only DirectX 10 game I've ever had trouble with was Crysis. Driver update didn't help me.

Maxor, the driver update ( I used the nVidia Driver for the 8800 GTX, newest one) worked for me. Hope you get it too.
