Hey guys! I’m finally back. Thanks for all the well-wishing…that was some nasty bug I had.
I finished my turns. Not much to report really. Monty died early on, and I declared on Nappy near the end of my turns. We have taken Orleans, and Boston and Chartres should fall in a few turns. While marching on Boston, Nappy’s big stack came out and I killed around a dozen or so units. There are still about a half dozen knights/war elephants left to attack though. I lost quite a few cats in order to destroy the big stack, so we will probably need to build a few more for the eastern war effort.
We will probably lose a few grenadiers outside Boston on your very first turn Gator. That is ok I think, as the remains of the stack can join up with the stack approaching from the south on the jungle/hill. That should spell doom for Boston very soon.
I think I would take our troops that remain from the sacking of Orleans and send them on their way to New York via Mao’s territory.
We have three full boats of troops ready to land outside Paris on your first turn, and a few more boats will be arriving shortly after. Paris’s defenses have already been softened up by Frigates. I have blocked Paris’s south harbor with a frigate, because I don’t think we want his many boats escaping that way. I would leave the north harbor open, however, in hopes that he comes out of the city with a few loaded boats: easy meat for our frigates.
I decided to go ahead and start the war with Nappy for three reasons: 1) I was hoping that by attacking his western front before landing outside his capitol that some of the capitol’s defenders would leave (didn’t happen). 2) Mao had just demanded Paper and I gave it to him. That made our relations with him as good as they have been in a long time. It seemed a perfect time to attack Nappy, because Mao would be less likely to dog pile us. 3) By declaring early, our frigates would have time to soften the defenses of Paris before we landed our invasion force.
We now have a Great Engineer to go with our Great Priest. I think I would use them for a GA, but we could use the Engineer for Versailles if you guys prefer. If we do use GPs for a GA, I would put the specialists in Tiwanaku back to working tiles: there is no way we can generate three more GPs for another GA by the end of the game, and there really isn’t anything else useful we can do with Great People.
Delhi is really unhappy right now and starving, but that is only until we finish connecting the city by road. That should solve its happiness problems.
I decided to go ahead and leave research on since we didn’t need all that much money for upgrades. We will have Printing Press in a few turns, but if you find yourself needing cash don’t hesitate to turn research off. I also gave into Mansa's demand for Astronomy: I hated to do it, but we really need all our trade agreements with him.
Here is
the save.
Thanks for being so patient with me guys!
