I've long been interested in a GOTM, but get crushed on the higher levels. Is there any interest in a Noble BTS gotm?

I doubt there will be much interest in a "real" noble game...

I think however that the adventurer save goes done to nobel level once in a while. Have you tried that option?

Also, when you say you get "crushed on higher levels", what level can you "usually" win at? If that is Noble, then I think you will find that you have good chances on gotm prince and even monarch maps...

If you usually play by generating a random map and playing it, you often get pretty poor maps. Most GOTM are selected maps which range from "above average" to "very nice". It is quite rare for the map makers to give us a poor map in gotm. This means that the games of often at least one level easier than what you get from random generation.

Actually we do go down to noble level. Although we don't normally advertise the schedule, each of the flavours runs on a sawtooth pattern for difficulty. So for example, July's BtS game is on emperor, so August is likely to be immortal, and September is scheduled for deity. October is not decided yet but will drop back to an easy level.

The sawtooth range starts at warlords/noble/prince and goes up to immortal/deity. We always try to do it so that as far as possible, at any given time there is at least one easy (monarch or lower) and one hard (emperor or above) game running. Fiddling the schedule to meet that requirement is the thing that usually determines whether a given round will actually start at noble or prince. Warlords games are only occasional, and we also don't always go up to deity because numbers of submissions tends to drop off at the highest levels (from which we presume the highest levels aren't as popular).

Something you see quite often in S&T subforum is the same map posted at different difficulty levels. I don't know if this could be combined with Hof. If it could be done then a radical option would be to run each gotm at eg noble, monarch, immortal difficulties instead of current class system.

Interesting idea.

In principle, we could post the same map at different levels - that is after all what we already often do with the challenger and adventurer saves. I think the issue would be that we don't really have enough people playing the GOTMs to justify more than one set of awards, so you'd always have to designate one of the levels as the one that gets the awards - and then of course you'll inevitably find that 95% of people choose that level to play on.

Do you have Warlords?

The next Warlords is at Noble level. It starts on 8/7.
I will start designing it in a few days. Any suggestions?
As usual, I'm looking at Civs and maps that haven't been played for a while. There are some popular leaders that have never starred in Warlords, probably one of them.
