Well, wiki should get the bonus point for the exact location, I only new it was when exiting the harbour of Montevideo.

Indeed, Wiki should get the floor.
I first thought it was the Prinz Eugen because I remembered doing a model of it when I was a lad, but the guns turned out to be wrong. So it was a smaller ship. I searched Heavy cruisers for a while and got sidetracked on Operation Crossroads because I wrongly assumed it was one of the ships sunk in the atomic bomb detonation at Bikini.
Then I found the pocket battleships class and there it was.
The Altmark incident confirmed the story.

A very interesting story and a first class Captain, btw.
