hello,

so, i would like to gift cities i conquered to my ally. I know you can gift cities to the person that founded the city, but can you turn over cities that YOU constructed or that you captured from someone else ?

Secondly, if i have like 15 cities and they all build modern armor each 2 turns, is there a way to set a repeat build queue order so you dont have to manually enter 15 new armors each second turn ?!

what 6kman said, and im not a expert at the city thing my self i still trying to figure out things but i do know if its on same land mass you can hand it over to your vassal or near by islands

You mean to put the same build queue in all 15 cities?

I believe you have to shift+click the city names in the domestic advisor (if you want all cities just alt+click one city name) and then ctrl+click the unit to add to the beginning of the build or alt+click to build indefinitely, or ctrl+alt+click to add to the beginning and build indefinitely.

let me double check in an actual game...

On the main game screen, ctrl-click a city bar to select all cities on that continent, alt-click for all your cities worldwide.

In the city screen (or the mini city screen) ctrl-clicking an item puts it on top of your build queue, shift-click puts it on the bottom, and alt-click builds that unit indefinitely. (i may have crtl and shift mixed up on that, so if you hold ctrl and it goes to the bottom, then shift goes to the top)

Oh, and you can gift cities through the trade screen. The AI will often refuse though if it's not near their empire. You can actually keep tabs on the AI's empire size by looking at how many cities they have to trade, although the BUG mod does this for you.)

Also if you alt-click a unit and then alt-click another unit, it will alternate the builds.
You can tell what items are on repeat-build by the star it puts next to them in the queue.

*Modern Armor

That applies to buildings as well. So you can tell the city to perpetually build a certain unit, stick a building underneath in the queue, and when it's done with the unit it will start with the building. When that's done the unit will start building again, and you can repeat the whole process by sticking another building in the queue underneath. That can be a good way of developing both a powerful military and the cities themselves.

Handy tip, thanks :)

I've had good results doing things that way. It usually doesn't take long with every city constructing at least one unit to become the most powerful civ in the game, yet your cities are also becoming developed as well.

Another handy thing to remember is that you can save and recall build queues. For example I often set a "newly-captured-city-build-queue" of Courthouse->Granary->Rax or whatever; it can be saved by ctrl+number and recalled in other cities by pressing that number.

where did you discover this? it's not in the manual.
They are in those tips when you start/load a game. eg.

"Hold down the [ALT] key to have a city build an item indefinitely..."

There's a list of all those tips in the civilopedia.

As for gifting cities, I'm not certain, but I think you can gift any city you like - whether you built it or not - but the other player has to be willing to accept it. The AI will accept cities that you have built near their borders, but they will not accept cities that are deep within your borders.

When you have ordered a city to build a unit indefinitely, how do you cancel it? The only way I have found, is to insert another item at the top with Ctrl+click on item and then double-click the starred item, but there must be another way?

You can only turn over a city that you conquered from someone if you have the setting "City Flipping After Conquest" Enabled.

Yeah, but that was not my question. Are you drunk or something? :king:

Also not your question, but perhaps related: how do I "prebuild" multiple units before a civics switch? (I can insert something at the top, and at the bottom, of the queue, but I can't figure out how to insert the *same* unit without it becomming the first built.) Thanks for all help!

You should be able to cancel it by clicking on it in the build queue. If that doesn't work, then what you are doing is the next best thing. If you want to cancel it, you want to build something else anyway.
