General Turn Discussion

@ronnie check out the war gammign the map :) we grow ver yvery fast due to the 2 food resources

I'm sure we do at +10 food or whatever we are at.....the point was that we need to build something besides worker/settler in order to grow.

If you're referring to a grainery then I would agree...once we get close to our health cap. And while we're on the subject of growth and health...

What are some thoughts on the Hanging Gardens (+1 :health:, +1 pop in ea. city)?

...only need math early to go for it.

Sleep is for the WEAK! (and people who are tired....)

Good thing we got woodsmen. For the bear.

EDIT: I vote NE and RUN!!!
EDIT2: Fast Turn. I vote NE again. #2 goes N or NW

so does anyone else think we should do anything but run from the bear?

Also NW still look good for our secodn warrior:

Finally 2 turns until the wheel, what are we reserachign next? pottery or AH? (something else)
i think we need a poll on that in the forum!!!

Tech: AH (are we really going to be building any granaries or cottages, or are we just going to clear cut the capital? We might as well find out where horses are first if we don't intend to do either of the prior actions. Can be persuaded by good arguements though).

Wa1: 9 (NW)

Wa2: 7 (NE)

I meant chopping asap. IT could be that we try to time growth of each pop point to coincide with the completion of a new mine, and we try to get the mines up asap, with the chops arriving at whatever time they do and build the second settler at whatever point in the future. (Devils advocate, I want that third settler quickly to get a cottage city...)

no matter what tech we get i think we should clear cut the capital. ;)

Shouldn't we wait for maths before we chop everything?

Warrior 1 (didn't we name it Barentsz?) NE
Warrior 2 NW

Long term: Is the copper/wheat site our location for city #2, or are we planning on building it near the cows?

I thought we were planning on getting pottery soon so we could start cottaging.

20 :hammers: today to get out workers and settlers is worth more than 30 :hammers: tommorow (IMO)

if we don't get pottery what do we build in the copper city? a warrior? barracks? for it to becoem effective getting a granary in there ASAP is critical.

When I've been running the sims I've just been building 3 warriors then axes until size 4, with 1 worker dedicated to it it should take 12 turns to hit size 3 (start working the copper), and a further 8 to grow to size 4, making a total of 121 hammers over 20 turns. Working the wheat, then the wheat and grass forest. Build axes until size 4 when copper is hooked. Build a granary at size 4 quickly before we hook up a happy resource. The granary would be nice, but it isn't critical as we have no reason to slave that city, and we can build one before we restart growth. The 4 warriors would give us a few cheap fogbusters and explorers, and would mean we don't have to build a warrior at the capital, instead we could build a work boat to explore with.

well that is true.... but if we go pottery ==> AH we still get AH before our next next settler....

i am really undecided on this one.

instead of warriors what if we went barracks first?

Well, given 1 worker and maxing food until size 3, the copper city can build 3 (sorry, just reinstalled civ on the laptop, couldn;t check the saves so I guessed on the amount in the above post), not 4 warriors before copper is hooked, so we would get a barracks 1 turn after copper is connected to the river and 11 overflow hammers, making +3fpt and 11hpt.

i sent a second worker over to chop the tile 2 E, so barracks is doen then 2 more warriors before the copper, then it is axes with promos.

this way capital doesn't need to build troops it can focus on growing. if we let our scout warrior come back to guard we can be in great shape! (or we can do the workboat move.)

ok up to this point i think our best moves are certain: (except research)

so the question is who can do the best the fastest after this point? Play it out to turn 50and post what you can get!
