General Turn Discussion

We have 5 options:

  1. Heal
  2. Move 1 space at a time
  3. Move to the desert hill 2 W
  4. Move to the desert hill N NW
  5. Move to the desert W NW

Biggest problem is that we need to find Saturn asap. Finding them after t96 isn't acceptable.

  1. So healing until 3.9 strength, which takes until t93, is only useful if we think Saturn are close and we can still make contact. In that amount of time the galley will have moved 8 tiles; so the nearby coastal city sites will have been found. So healing is only good to find the nearby inland cities, and would let us move the chariot 8 tiles.

  2. This would allow us to move 8 tiles, so long as the chariot doesn't get attacked or move adjacent to a barb on the first turn. Short term advantage, we either find Saturn in the next few turns and have longer to work out an alliance, or we don't and after t96 healing turns out to be better.

  3. Risky, there is a 2/3 chance the barb can attack the chariot, but might let us find Saturn in the next two turns.

  4. Safer in that the chariot can only be attacking from 1 tile, but is exploring land that the galley can check anyway.

  5. 1/3 chance the barb can attack, but isn't on a hill, so would not likely find Saturn for at least 2 turns.

I think I favour moving N NW, or possibily to the the 2E desert hil; it's risky, but tbh the safe options really suck (ie the galley alone is probably as good as galley+safe chariot).

On another note Kaz has offered us O.B.

Response? Why help thier research?

I am thinking countering with O.B. and Alpha? Or is Poly more realistic?

Reject the OB.....unless they will throw in a tech to make it worthy of consideration.

Gelderlander...
1. Move the galley 1st!
2. I would move NW (have a look at the hill in the fog) and then SW to the desert hill. Reasoning...He is still stronger than a warrior, we haven't seen any barbs stronger than that.

Angle...I think we need to get an Axe SE of the city to see if Kaz has units on the way.

Small nitpick, this picture is the same picture as last turn, but it is in the current turns entry in the Played Turns Thread. Would it be possible to get an updated picture?

Galley: 2S or S SW, unless we agree to gift it.
Gelderlander: Heal
Zuurstof: SW W, barb bust as much as possible, maybe uncover another tile of FoW.
Stikstof: SE, check if there is any seafood around there
Barentz: NE
Waterstof: Upgrade and attack to kill one of the warriors, but upgrade to what?
IJzer: NW
Goud (and worker): S
Charles: S SW (protect second worker)

Note for Charles and Goud, and the workers: this is the most efficient way of getting the settler to the south, so even though it appears to waste worker turns it actually isn't.

Now the fun stuff in the NE:

We have to move a worker to the plains hill forest before we move anything else to check for barbs. If it's clear, we can barb bust the majority of the land using just the axe and the chariot (leaving only 10 tiles for barbs to spawn on in the N and NE)

NB that we need 1 unit to barb bust on that desert; a chariot out of IS or FC can do that after the wonders and critical infrastructure by around t115, and that should give us the entire NE free from barbs.

Here are my suggested moves for next turn:

Dartmouth: W SW
Gelderlander: S SW (he's strong enough to deal with barbs now)
Stikstof: N, lets check out that last bit of FoW to the NE
Zuurstof: NW W
Barentz: If the barb attacks, SE NE
Waterstof: Heal unless Angle is size 2
IJzer: Heal
Goud: Heal
Charles: S

NE:
Kolostof: Heal
Fries Paard: Sentry
Worker 1: Road
Worker 2: NE
Worker 3: E

Here are my suggested moves for next turn:

Dartmouth: W SWW>see what we find, either SW or W
Gelderlander: S SW (he's strong enough to deal with barbs now)agree
Stikstof: N, lets check out that last bit of FoW to the NEagree
Zuurstof: NW WDISAGREE...Angle is not an issue now... SW>setting up SW>??? looking for Kaz!!!
Barentz: If the barb attacks, SE NEagree
Waterstof: Heal unless Angle is size 2agree
IJzer: Healagree
Goud: Healagree
Charles: Sagree

NE:
Kolostof: Healagree
Fries Paard: Sentryagree
Worker 1: Roadagree
Worker 2: NEagree
Worker 3: Eagree
none of those previous characters count...:(

Zuurstof: NW WDISAGREE...Angle is not an issue now... SW>setting up SW>??? looking for Kaz!!!

He path is north of Angle not south to Kaz. thus following the river and maybe getting trade route with MS. (where else coudl they of come from?)

Barentz is going to Explore Kaz land. Unless do you feel we need 2 Axemen down there? If yes our last move was wrong then we didn't set up for a double move :(

We think MS is between us and Saturn?

There doesn't seem to be enough land there IMO...

  1. We know 2 things: Saturn are either west of Cav and/or Saturn, or the route to them is via south of Angle (there is no where else for them to be).
  2. Saturn said they met MS in the west.

Right now we have explored all short time potential city sites, and we have no met every team in this game. This leaves us with the dual scouting aim of uncovering as much land as possible with out scouts, and keeping the scouts alive. Finding a route to MS for the trade routes would just be a nice side effect of doing this.

That's why Zuurstof should be heading northwards towards Saturn, and Barentz can head south to Kaz; they're just passing Angle because that's the only land route to where they are going, not because they are needed to deal with the barbs (there is one remaining barb warrior defending the city now, with a combat 1, 3.7 strength axe, and a ~4 strength axe with 2XP unused waiting to take the city).

Quote function is slightly broken.

I think we should heal this turn with Gelderlander, and hopefully next turn we can attack the axe with good odds and kill it. If axes are turning up we do need to play it safer with the chariots.

I think we should move the chariot in OO 3 NW and prepare to take out that axe. If the axe wanders off again, no worries. If he enters our borders we're going to have to be careful...

Slight OT: We have 7 food res hooked for 5 cities.

  1. Kaz have 4 (clam, corn, sheep, wheat)
  2. Cav have 4 (fish, sheep, 2*wheat)
  3. MS have 5 (pig, rice, fish, 2*clam)
  4. Saturn have 3 food res hooked (sheep, 2*crab)

We are destroying them (somehow). I really have to wonder what Sullla did with this map, f.e. we got eles, which haven't been balanced (and he should know better than that).

Sullla is one of those people who are more interested in over all balencing and attempting to make resource trading interesting imo. Maybe he balence the fact that we have elephants with the fact that other teams have something we don't have. *shrug*
