General Turn Discussion

I agree with Memphus: Kaz would get at most 1/3 of the beaker value from their 2nd GS. There's no way they're going to waste that extra 1000 beakers unless they KNOW that's their only and sufficient way to beat us to liberalism. Of course, if they double-bulb, and still lose liberalism...:goodjob:

The suspense is killing me; when does their turn end?

Ironically I pretty much agree...but we won't be in a better place to get Lib unless we use the golden age. Which is why the position Kaz has given us means that we should have made the choice on the golden age last turn, and that is what annoys me.

True we don't get the pick up yet (this turn) I.e. If kaz don't double bulb this turn but somehow bulb and get it via research next turn we still need to go golden.

The advantage is every turn that goes by we get closer to not using up our GA which is huge. The funniest case would be if we researched lib ourselves afterwards...(This won't happen)

Perhaps not. But we'll see.

Either way, we are going to have to come up with a coherant strategy for after Lib though. Both diplomatically and economically. If we get lib, we need to start figuring out how to lock the game down into a victory for us, because we'll have drawn even on tech.

Imo since we are getting compass in our liberalism bid we go machinery optics as the next two techs and sb up to overflow somehow into a carvel (prebuilt trireme?) The turn we finish optics. We get circumnav.

After / while that is happening saturn gets drama and we set tky up for the draft. And make war plans to wipe kaz out of the game.

I usually get at least 2/3 of education from a GS. Is it different in MP?

I completely agree about going for optics. For one thing, harbors in our coastal cities will help us a fair amount.

Makes sense. Personally, I want to get into Merc and FR asap. That's worth an extra 115 bpt just from the extra scientist specialists, and we'd lose a grand total of, what, 25 commerce max even taking into account bureacracy and large MS cities. That means machinery as the first tech after Lib is perfect.

Optics for the caravel I definately agree with. We need to get the trireme out asap (it costs 80 gold to upgrade), and Sb is starting to get close to being a good production city.

TKY as the draft city also fits in with killing Kaz. It has the food for drafting every 11/15 turns without the corn, or every turn with the corn. Biggest problem is getting the damned GT up and running.

But, and here is the kicker...machinery and optics could be finished as early t132. We need a much longer range plan than that, preferably one dealing with how we are going to take Cav, and not just Kaz, out of the game.

Our economy doesn't really follow anything "pure", it has elements of pretty much everything in it. I don't really know how much people bulb in MP games, normally they are much more interested in getting artists out for artist bombs.

Yeah, we need Harbours, especially with all of our happy resources...

Trade routes aren't worth an awful lot to us, Merc and Rep are definately much more powerful, especially as Saturn still gets trade routes with everyone else. Really, we can get IS up to size 19 without any real trouble, we don;t have the health to sustain that size though.

*shrug* We didn't have anything else to spend 200 hammers on that we could convert into beakers or gold, and at that time we really needed the beakers and gold, and alot of our cities were planned to be coastal. Denial as well, if Kaz or Cav had gotten it...so far it's given us a grand total of 220 commerce, and it should easily double that...so it's better than building research or wealth (and we couldn;t build wealth during the build).

Finally back at my comp no more BB posting :goodjob:

Ok so, a longer plan eh?

Well Techs should be:

Machinery
Optics
Engineering (big enmpie need to mvoe troops)

At this point we have a fork in the road.

We can either go Guilds (Knights) ==> Baking (merchantalism like Krill Said above)
Or Gunpowder

(we could also make a play on theo if we wanted to)

IMO We should get gunpowder if we think we have the draft city set up as drafting muskets would be nice if Kaz and Cav plan a multi pronged approach (which I expect they will)

So to me we get the 3 techs above and then look at the lay of the land.

Longer term aims. Use EIM to boat Cav from behind? Do we go for the SoL? Steel? What about heading for gunpowder and curaissiers asap?

Religion? Theology is still out there, a mere 750 base beakers away. We can feasibly get a temple in CK to push out a prophet for a shrine, and a golden age is the ideal time to change religions. Or do we stick with FR to push out research?

Do we turn TKY into the draft city? If so, where do we put NE?

What are we going to do with MS? They aren't our allies, and are providing useful tech to Cav. How do we teach them the error of their ways?

What are we going to do about Kazs' Redcoats?

We see where we are at when we kill kaz.

We kill them before they get them

FR to begin with. We still get shrine income from spreading the religion. the ncie part is with getting a religion and sending it to all cities we get +1 :) (not that we need it) but also then gives us the options to change to something other than FR, for example to theocracy if we go to war with kaz and have the tech lead already, or to ORG Rel if we go back to building, or pacifism if we are pushing out a GP for a 3rd GA.

No idea...OO Along with IW? All late game wonders will get the double GPP?

Leave them alone until later. Help Saturn kill them at some point. I want this game to end:

1. Sancta
2. Saturn
3. MS
4. Cav
5. Kaz
