This is a map of Germany and neighboring lands. It was a request by Gen. Rommel for a scenario. The size is 110 x 90. It is a clean map with no starting locations, resources, or goody huts.

This was an unusual map for me. Not only is it mostly land stretching from one end to the other, but it also has a limited variety of terrain. There are no Jungles, Deserts, or Tundras here like a traditional map would have.

I think your choice of terrain is a bit simple. You could easily add some marsh, pine forest and plains.

Also some places (notably Bavaria) seems to be just hills. I can assure you that there should be some flat land in there too. :)

The Netherlands could use some more detail too imho.

edit: personly I would prefer some more rivers too, but I guess that's a matter of taste. ;)

If I ever get to it... I can use this map (or Rommel's updated version) for my Ostkolonisation scenario...

See, this is why I don't like doing real world maps. People are going to pick at the accuracy like this. Anyway, this was made for Gen. Rommel. If he had asked for any alterations to the terrain I would have gladly made them, but he seemed to be satisfied.

I wouldn't take it too seriously...I believe they were just a few critique points people noticed which they personally would have done differently. But since I didn't request anything but this, it's fine. You delivered EXACTLY what I want, something that is hard to come by nowadays. :goodjob:

We are just trying to help. Most people prefer more varied terrain, that's all I'm saying.

It's always been the standard on these forums that people discuss what can be made better about something that's posted, whether it's a mod, map or unit for that matter.

Just don't take any critique personly, it's never meant like that. :)

Germany doesn't really have any terrain that would be considered "varied" in Civ-terms: Flatlands ("Grasslands") in the North and East, Hills and Forests throughout most of the rest of the country and Mountains in the South, along the Czech border and -- maybe -- the Black Forest. Four major rivers: Rhine, Danube, Oder and Elbe - if you limit yourself to the current German territory.

Hooray, your map is just fine.
