I'm just trying to encourage him to give videos in general more of a chance, as I think they will help him. There is no disrespect intended. I was trying to be helpful by reminding him that he and I were at a similar level six months ago, and I even took some advice from him, but I've come on in leaps and bounds because I've persisted with videos that are sometimes a little slow.
I also felt it was a little harsh to say that Peddro's videos have a low info density when every second teaches you something.
Anyway, I'll leave it at that, and won't mention it again
That said, I wish I found more acknowledgement on these board that maybe video are not a good medium for everyone. BBS is very old school. I am old school. Twitter also has a low signal to noise ratio, so I find it quite peculiar to suggest that is what I looking for!
My "twitter" post wasn't really directed at you in particular (i quoted you because you used the "low information density") but i find that with all the new quick communication mediums (Twitter, Facebook, SMS ... ) people in general seem to consider that anything and everything can be said in about a dozen words. That's simply not true.
Not very long ago, a scientist was answering a journalist about recent discoveries concerning Higgs Boson. At some point the journalist asked "can you explain us in a few words what Higgs Boson is". The scientist simply answered "In a few words, no"
It's true that Videos are not good for everyone and i can perfectly understand you don't want to look at several hours of another player's game, but there simply is nothing that can really replace a full game video to learn all the tricks used by good players. Even if those good players can write them down without forgetting a single one wouldn't be the same as seeing them put to use.
Now, maybe you can find shorter LPs by other good players. I never looked at Acken's LPs but from his post they might be better for you.
