Getting back in the saddle :)

Thanks for the replies!

@Quibblesome I was thinking about it, but if I teched AH first, I'd probably settle horses and it'd require delaying BW. 2nd and 3rd city as they are now have built units for whole game and were of much use as I see it. Otoh, yes, sheep city was my 2nd cottage city (only capitol and sheep city were) and I noticed that it delayed developing it (partially cause it was working early Gsci) and even now didn't have all fully developed towns. There are pros and cons for both options (and there's more then 2 options as well) but it's hard to tell how much is which option better without actual comparison. At least to me, experienced players probably can see it even like that.

I was planing to finish it yesterday, but had to take care of smtg. Anyhow, I finished it:

1340 AD - Conquest Victory!

Spoiler :
In 1110 AD Ramesses finished DRight - traded him Nat for it, told him to research MT and finished PPress (on 60%). Turn later Izzy finished Banking, she got Nat for it as well and she got order to research Const. So I bulbed Chem and finished it next turn (on 50%). Here I traded Music, Philo & DRight for Compass with Giggles, told him to research Optics and I finished Lib on 0%.

Libbed Steel as planned and upgraded 20 units to cannons, moving my stacks toward Justinian. Switched civics to Bureau & Merc. Next research: Econ, back on 50% research.

In 1170 AD traded GPowder & Paper for Optics with Giggles and told him to research Astro. Gifted Guilds to Ramesses & Paper to Izzy. My workers finished improving & changing what was necessary and roading everything, so here I deleted some of them and stationed others (in pairs) next to almost every city. They'll wait for RRoad and improve spy's infiltrations. And there was always something. Turn later got GMerchant from Econ. He'll wait few turns to see what'll my next GP be and either do a trade mission or extend GAge with saved GArtist. Research: RParts.

Here I DoW'd Justinian. Took Cologne in 1190 AD and turn later, as I got GSci I sent GMerch on TMission to Thebes (ToA). Got 1500 gold. I took crap city in 1200 AD and switched to CS & FreeMarket. Turn later got GMerch, so I bulbed SMethod with GSci and extended GAgeeven further, making it last for 37T. And I captured his 3rd city.

Here I got message he's willing to capitulate. I did that, but after I captured another city. Started researching Rifling and turned my units around toward SB. 11 of my cities built wealth while others had alt*units.

Traded some more techs for change, gifted some, gifted all of his cities back to Justinian and traded for MT in 1260 AD. Finished Rifling in 1270 AD and SMethod in 1290 AD, when my stacks were in position. So I upgraded lots of units to cavs & some to rifles. Got Const from Izzy and swapped civics to Rep & FreeReligion. Next research doesn't matter cause game will be finished before research will. Cause I lowered slider to 10%.

Thanks for all of feedback and sorry if I write too much and/or use too many screenshots. And for my occasionally poor English. I had fun playing & writing, hope you did too!

Good show Dubioza. Well played.

TYTYTY! :)

I wanna try Immortal, but I'd like some easy game as well. Any suggestions? Or I'll generate one, hopefully today.

@RagingHordes Good luck to you too in SGOTM! First time for you as well? Hope we learn a lot while having fun!

Willem on Pangaea will help bridge the gap. There are other Civs with far better UUs, but it's good to get a handle on the basic traits first, rather than, e.g., performing a Quecha/Immortal/War Chariot/Praetorian rush to capture two AI capitals in the BCs.

If not Willem, try Mansa, Ragnar, or Pericles. Ragnar is the weakest, but the Vikings have cool music and uniques.

I second Doshin's advice. Willem is good for rushing with Construction and for Lib races. Good for practice.
Roll a start with farm food and make a write-up if you still have the time/energy.

First time as well, new to the forums.
I'm excited. If I'd known about SGOTM, I'd have joined a year ago. :)

After it's done, you may expect to emerge with a plastic microchip that automatically reveals optimal micromanagement steps, both irl and in Civ4, all possible optimized outcomes and a quacking theme song. What's not to enjoy?
