There is a lot of support for getting started. Some of the things we might want to do are: (not necessarily in this order)

  • Create offices
  • Finalize game startup options
  • Ratify the constitution
  • Pass some laws as initiatives
  • Hold elections
  • Get started

Creating Offices
We had a poll among those of us who were here to plan the game, that came up with a set of offices. We could proceed with that poll, or start a new list.

Someone can continue this please. I'm helping my mother in law move in :crazyeye: and will be busy for most of the day.

Has the 'build-as-you-go' approach even been polled as such? Otherwise, with the basic constitution more or less decided on, we should go on to talk about the executive branch.

OK guys, listen up. There was a poll asking whether we wanted to start the game or work on the rules. We voted to start the game. Does that not imply we will build the rules as we go? Or are you two suggesting we stop and work on the rules despite what we just voted on?

Here's my list of offices: the judicary as outlined in the constitutional proposal and designated players. Let's get these guys elected.

While we're doing that let's finalize our start up options so we can play.

Let's not start in making laws we do not need!

We need turn players and a save. We can discuss and poll the early game decisions without officers.

I am willing to "interpret" (yes, there's that word again) the "start game or make rules" poll in any way a majority of citizens think is fair.

I believe that viewing a yes vote for "start game" as a vote for "build as you go" is one valid and reasonable way. Evaluating its fairness is different, and would hinge on whether a significant number of people claim they would vote "no" in that poll if they knew it would mean build as you go rules.

Another relatively fast and fair way to decide it is to have another poll that specifically asks about the build as you go style.

It's going to be a long hairy game if we can't even agree what the results of our first poll means. You can't get much clearer than asking people if they want to start the game or work on the rules. There's nothing ambiguous here guys. We decided we want to play the game without worrying so much about rules so let's get to it.

Some people want some offices. There is a discussion thread about it. Let's discuss it and poll it and go with it. Why are we making this so difficult?

i say lets get this baby rolling ;)

Only leaving it open for other people to think differently, as many people have said I need to learn to do.

Personally, I agree that it means get it started. :D

DaveShack, we cannot get into the habit of interpretig poll results after the fact according to the majority. The majority already spoke when voting in the poll. We really need to hash out potential interpretation issues before a poll is even posted.

Replied via PM.

Creating offices -- poll in progress.
Game startup options -- most polls closed, suggest any additional ones in the game startup options thread.
Constitution ratified.
Some laws are drafted and ready to poll.
Elections tentatively scheduled as nominations on 2/20, elections on 2/23.
The game will probably start on 3/1 unless something comes up that must be done first.

If the game starts on 3/1 then we have until that date to officially decide if we are going to use the HoF mod, correct?

Make it a day earlier at least, so that whomever is creating the game can have the mod if a new (unnecessary) vote turns out in favor of using it.

The poll has rejected HOF mod. So I suppose we aren't using it?
