Giant Earth Map - Version 4

I just confirmed the file is not found, as you say. However, the download database is working.

I have 4.2 on my computer, and although I won't upload it cuz I'm not sure Genghis would like that; I can always find a way to send to anyone who really wants it, or upload it off-site.

EDIT: read the announcement too... is this because he has to fix the link to his file? Otherwise it seems there shouldn't be a problem

It's not the link that's broken. The file isn't in the database anymore so there's nothing to link to. Could you either upload it or send me the file?

I would love it if someone could please upload this file or send it to me.

Any help?

Nice looking map! I am going to try it! One thing, is it just me or does Scotland look a little odd shaped?

Love the map. Just have one question/thought.

It seems that all map makers place jungle on grassland. Thus, when the jungle is cut the land becomes extremely fertile. Perhaps I am mistaken, but isn't the soil beneath the jungle in reality quite poor. Wouldn't plains, or desert or tundra tiles beneath the jungle overlay better reflect the poor soil conditions underneath than grasslands for a real world map.

I say this because if we cut the jungle on your map, we can support huge cities, while in reality, I don't believe there are any huge cities in these areas of the world even at this point in history - certainly not to rival the fertile grasslands or the temperate river valleys anyway.

I see the work you did on the cutdowns of the Genghis Kai maps. Great work.

In order to cut down on map size and thus load time, I have two more possible ideas I would like to suggest.

First, why not just cut off most of the Northern tundra and polar region. This would be very simple.

Second, and this would be much more difficult I imagine, but what if we could take out most of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Just leave a space of say two or three deep ocean tiles between the coastal terrains of the old and new worlds. I know this is somewhat rinky dink, but hey, if cutting 1/3 of the map size would lead to a significant load time reduction, than I think some people might prefer it as an option.

Anyway, these are just two of my ideas if you are interested, as you have the necessary skills, and i do not. Cheers for the great work you have done!

theres another really badass earth map being developed by kevinman in the main c & c forum. sorry I don't have GEM or I'd re-upload.
