Global Ranking Updated - April

Now that both the Jason scoring system for the individual GOTM games and the system for accumulating Global Ranking points for all GOTM and QSC events have been updated, we are beginning to see some change and shift in the players who appear in the top positions of the Global Ranking.

It is possible to appear in the upper levels of the global ranking if you perform consistently well accross multiple games even if you do not win one of the top places finishes in individual games.

Excellent players can also appear high in the Global Ranking just by performing well in games on a bi-monthly or quarterly basis.

We will continue to see changes in the positions in the Global Ranking as more games are concistently scored with the Jason system because the new scoring system closes the gap between high scoring technical games and fast finish technical games as well as all other well and moderately played strategic games.

Remember that "all glory is fleeting" and over time players made fade away from the Global Ranking if they have not been actively involved in the GOTM or QSC games from more than 8 to 9 months.

Cracker, would it make sense to add # of games played or counted to the ranking list?

When I use IE to go to the .shtml location for the revised rankings, I get small, empty name-and-rank boxes. No compilation ensues. Is there something I'm missing...

... or is this part of the I/O "tinu" bug, Cracker?

Txurce, I think it is part of the ongoing "Mac versions of most DOS based software end up being kluges" bug. Many of the MAC browser versions do not reliably parse all scripts just as versions of the netscape/AOL pbrowsers do not parse all file download URLs.

Yes, you are missing Virtual PC to run IE in.

Maybe it is a similar problem as with the GOTM17 results not displaying.

The underlying problen IMHO is that a certain company does not care about standards or compatibility, but only on market domination. It's kind of hard to blame the sheep for follwing the shepard.

Edit: To add a more constructive touch, I fired up my Virtual PC, converted the table to Excel and uploaded it to the server.

Wow, I'm 87th, and I've only completed one GOTM (#17)....

Kudos to the top players... (Some of them even have more than 4 times te points I have... )

Any chance we can add a column with the previous months rank so we can see whos going up and down. Maybe add some color or graphic to indicate improvement and by how much?

I second the idea of showing the standing of a player in the previous edition of the Global Ranking next to his current position. Also, bringing back the colours for certain positions on the global ranking, like Matrix used in the old Global Ranking, would be great, that will give people placed lower on the list a target to aim for, i.e. trying to get past place 50 on the list to get their names listed in blue.

I checked the Global Ranking each month to see whether I had reached a new color when I just started in this competition.
