LIEGE REVOLTS!!!
In response to the Prussian seizures of territory in the low countries, King George had some thinking to do. What did Britain have to counter Prussias superiority on land? Use of our better production to build a better army would take time, and our navy is likely useless in the Baltic as Prussia has likely taken measures to prepare for it. Then it struck him: we have money. We have the economy to raise large funds, as well as an isolated homeland which would allow us to sell off many defensive mechanisms.
Therefore, a strategy came about in which experienced diplomats from London would be landed in Holland, and they would bribe a Prussian city on the front lines against France, as logically those cities would have the most units. Our chosen target was Frankfurt, as the Prussians likely left Hamburg and Amsterdam poorly defended due to their vulnerability to the British Navy.
However, when the massive Prussian offensive broke through the poorly defended French border, the British firebrand diplomats recently assembled to bring about unrest in Frankfurt were instead ordered to speak in the recently captured city of Liege, and convince the people there to throw off their Prussian conquerors. Upon a massive shipment of gold to the city, dissidents rebelled. Soon after, they tactfully convinced Prussian troops in and around the city to fight alongside Britain for the republican ideals they were fighting for.
The grand total of all troops gutted from the Prussian army were four infantry divisions, one regiment of Chevalier cavalry, one division of continental army which the Prussians had bribed earlier on, and the three Prussian artillery regiments which had been the heart of the Prussian offensive. These forces were eager to fight on against their former comrades, and they annihilated regiments of Prussian cavalry and infantry caught off guard in the Ardennes. More chevaliers were slaughtered on the banks of the Rhine, just northwest of Frankfurt.
King Friedrich Wilhelm III:
This is simply the greatest deathblow that has, will, or can happen in this war. I beg of you to finally accept peace on my previously announced terms:
1) Great Britain gains sovereignty over Copenhagen, Hamburg, and Amsterdam.
2) Upon announcement of peace and some rehoming of units, Liege will be gifted back to France by Britain.
3) Prussia maintains sovereignty over Leipzig and Frankfurt. Furthermore, Stockholm will be left alone by Britain so that Russia and/or Prussia may do what they wish with it.
These terms are very generous. No reparations, no demilitarizations, no demands for original Prussian territory, and even an offer for Prussia to keep much of the territory they have taken. If you deny this offer, rest assured that I will still stick to my promise to only attack my three claimed cities, while I will not attack any other Prussian territory, even if we are at war.
In our southern theaters:
- La Coruna emptied for French occupation. I hope they have sent the infantry I alluded to in an earlier post. If not that is no problem, but a further delay in Spain would delay any British land action against Austria.
- British ships empty Palermo as well for French occupation.
- British ships of the line blast apart four unknown Russian units besieging Istanbul. The only one identified was some Russian dragoons.
- Peace treaty signed with the Ottoman Empire. Although they would not accept a direct alliance, Great Britain has still offered to train their social and military officials to assist their struggle against Russia.
