Madrid Devastated!

- In the beginning of the month, artillery regiments that were still heavily damaged from previous action in Spain continued bombardment of Madrid, in hoping that they could return to Cordoba for Christmas. They destroyed the last of the city's garrison, and it is reported that Fernando(Ferdinand) VII, heir to the Spanish throne, was blownaparte by a shell in his own palace as he slept. While King George was appalled at such godless regicide, Spanish nobles cheered at his death, and they paid Britain a sum of 1000 gold. This gold will be kept by Britain, and when France occupies Madrid (very hopefully next turn; all it takes is one infantry regiment) they can of course keep the 1500 or so that will be plundered. I strongly, strongly recommend that Yopoleon send infantry from Barcelona immediately, as he does need the money badly to continue to hold against Prussia. If you have any reservations, please rest assured that British forces will remain in the area to defend the city from any Spanish counterattacks if you so ask.

Hold against what- I have not attacked France once, except when sending artillery against me. I am attacking the British (!) at sight.

Yeah, that's right, however for your sake I hope you're not referring to yourself, but to British cities:

I am of course speaking of the French as they have many times the ammount of cities I have- you almost have double- reason I don't understand your insistance on taking what is now mine (Prussia starts off with 6 cities only)

it really sounded like you were referring to yourself, since you had spoken earlier of all your industrial projects. I thought it was a scare tactic against us, and not you admitting that you should soon be defeated. Regardless, you can't tell me this about the many French and British cities, when your alliance of the black eagles or whatever totals 40 cities to our 37. Not to mention that most of those 40 have the advantage of isolation giving them secure production systems.

Finally, I guess I have to say again that I have no desire for any of Prussia. I want Amsterdam, Hamburg, and Copenhagen, and that is all. Meanwhile, Prussia would get to keep the formerly neutral cities of Frankfurt, Leipzig, and Stockholm whenever they get it. I will never hope for European conquest, or even hegemony. All I need is the three cities and I'll get back to building trade and research, as we all want to do.

Hi people:

1)Following requests of various players to change the final version of GNB to alter the use of Traders and Diplomat units I would welcome any suggestions as on how to implement this best:
I have been asked to leave out the Emisaire as it seems to make the game too volatile- I myself favour the idea of the Diplomat becomming obsolete as powerful leaders emerge- thus rendering the bribery useless through the leader's superior aura
The Traders have been considered too expensive and relativly useless, since they do not generate enough income (at the same time the trader's slot could be used to house a new corvette unit to better balance the naval play...

2)Is Prussia too powerful with the awarding of 8 additional regiments?? (note: in the final version Ulans and Leib-Hussaars are being replaced by a unique foot unit, the Lützow Freicorps, being much more historic than the other two 18th century units)
The idea here is to cut the number down to 6 regiments (leaving space for more events)

* Some Prussian units were destroyed outside Hamburg. We believe it was 1 Swedish Line unit and 2 Light Guns.

You know, I am really sick of hearing this. How is this so? Britain has no army, its navy is almost useless, and France is more focused on Austria. Meanwhile, your alliance has more cities and far, far more armies. Where does this illusion of yours come from?

Anyhow no news this turn, although I recommend that Yopoleon send occupation troops to La Coruna. I will empty it in the next turn, and then you can occupy it. Then the Spanish question will finally be finished.

Hey, I was and still AM (!!!) the smallest one around, ok- and I got my cities while I was defending myself from you two (I don't care if the units that make the kill are red or blue) - not in a walk around the country side... You went to war and forgot your army - fine!!!!! - I'd probably drown in the Bathtub with my fleet- so what ???? I am struggling hard to face the French while you two are happily swallowing up AI cities and getting fatter and fatter without anything I can do about it - but I am not giving in...

Am I supposed to tell the Russians and Austrian to let me fight alone now. I am presently selling everything that is not needed and putting it back into something that will defend me up here- THATS WHY- If it wasnt for Austria Prussia would not be anymore! It may be alright for you to say that heavier fighting is taking place elsewhere- U R far away on your island anyway, leaving the war to your allies... the only place I can stretch my Prussian legs is the three cities that U want - SORRY over my DEAD CIV- U got the others as a present U didn't want to negociate so I will not negociate with you anymore- you could have gotten 2 out of three but NO Sir- now you won't get a single one !

U rule the seas and the coast... Build yourself an army and do something with it - U chose Britain knowing what they got so use it. So, until the day you can back up your words by actions you will have to face my well justified in-game comments.

Defending yourself from us? We never attacked you, dammit. I went to war with cities that were never under your control, and you went to war with me because you thought they were yours and that you had to maintain the balance of power. That is not defending yourself, that is power playing.

And as I said, you have the initiative, not me, and certainly not France. Your armies vastly outnumber those which France has on your border (due to their other war to the south), so frankly I don't care whether you're a small country. You're a small country with a powerful army, so you are in no way aggrieved by "larger" powers.

And I never attacked France so how can I have anything of an initiative here ?? - if you think I'll let France attack me and reduce my army accordingly you must have less of a concept in arguing than I thought .

Yeah, power playing alright: I never had the intention of fighting France - I told you to get away from Hamburg- U didn't (just on purpose) and I did what I promised ! So much to your power play. You gambled, U lost- and I dont't feel sorry at all if your war machinery was not operational- I gambled too, and MADE mine work in time !

Oh yeah there was another line: Sth like "Damn right I am threatening you" - and now U say that I have the initiative - what am I supposed to make a cup of tea for the invaders and give you the key to my bedroom too... and as U said: Neutrals don't count- well no- but the prospect of yet another Neutral city in your hands seems quite odd- specially if you are already simultaneously and singlehandedly solving the "spanish question"...

Man, if you want to argue about this you'll need better stuff - and I recommend the PM method or people will fall asleep from this ...
