Going is good, I have done with the PMed stuff, now for ths stuff in this thread, and the Map, and Random events, which shall be many. I am gonna have to do the stats for a bunch of countries tomorrow, but I am changing the stats as I go along. Be done soon, likely.

GoobNES01: Fallout Update 1 - As the balance of power shifts . . .
May 18th, 1963
Apparently isolationist Spain was a thing of the past . . .
Spain undergoes some major upheavals. First, they have decided to move the new Government
and Capital City of Spain to Barcelona. But, that is not all. They have invited His Holiness, the
Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, to live in Barcelona, and make it his new residence. The
Papal Apartments are being built in Barcelona for the Popes exacting specifications. More on
His Holiness later. Spain has acquired Japanese assistance in stopping the Nuclear Fallout from
Madrid, Burgos, and Gibralter from spreading, they were not successful, but they successfully
evacuated the affect areas in time. Spain, led by the ambitious General Franco Francisco, has
annexed Portugal in a virtually bloodless battle, he told the Portugese people that they needed to
unite through a fairly successful propaganda campaign, and it worked! Spain now has
possession of Portugese Colonies, as well. Some minor fighting did occur, as some Portugese
troops resisted. Spain also sent out a message to all nations affected by the Nuclear barrage, and
got a flood of refugees, greatly bolstering the nationss population, and got most of the refugees
from the UK, which was almost totally destroyed by Nukes, Ireland, and lesser numbers from
Germany, Poland, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Spain has invaded, and, essentially, annexed
much of France, and the islands of Corsica and Sardinia. They did not annex all of France
because a French General was successful in uniting the last if the French Army that had not
given up all hope, and is currently trying to resist the Spanish. Casualties were minimal for the
well-trained Spanish, and high for the shocked and hastily arranged French, still not really
believing at what is unfolding. Some areas in Spanish-annexed France are resisting as well.
Spain, getting ambitious, also decided to declare war upon, and invade Italy. The Italian troops
were not prepared for this, but Italy and Spain are now in a state of war. Spain has gained Sicily
with minor fighting, but the mainland fight was a different story. By the time Spain had annexed
Sicily, the Italians knew that they were coming, and were somewhat ready for the Spanish. As
the Spanish confidently strode ashore, they were cut down by gunfire. What could have been a
disaster for the Spanish turned better as they finally outgunned the Italians. The Italians
managed to inflict pretty harsh casualties on the Spanish, until the Spanish finally woke up, and
send air units. Spain also sent more forces to the North of Italy, in secret, and have gained
ground there, as the majority of the Italian forces were battling the Southern Spanish invasion.
They overwhelmed the Italian Air Force, and the Spanish pressed on, gaining a sizeable amount
of land, but paying for it dearly. The Italians are defending as well as they can, but they are
clearly outgunned, and might soon fall. Several Libyan ships carrying refugees to France were
destroyed by the Spanish fleets patrolling the Mediterranean. Is it unclear if Libya will react.
Ireland has also been annexed, but much more peacefully then France. Iceland has also been
annexed, but there was some negligible resistance to the relatively massive Spanish invasion
force. The Spanish Government has also relaxed some of their tough rules, and made life easier
for Spanish, and are soon thinking about becoming a democracy. The persecutions of Socialists
and Communists has ended.

Government can stop. They have also proclaimed themselves to be a new nation. Fighting
between the Burmese and the Khmer Alliance has caused casualties on both sides, but clearly
the people of Burma prefer the Khmer to the Burmese Government. The Khmer have been very
successful at hit and run style guerilla tactics, but they are feeling the effects of the Burmese air
power, and their tanks are difficult to hide.

Japanese Expertise has helped China reduce the effect of the Nuclear Fallout at Chengde. With
their new Radiation suits, the peoples Liberation Army shall soon be very well equipped to deal
with the Nuclear Fallout. Chinas prompt action to evacuate its citizens from the affected areas
have helped the production in China by saving the lives of many valuable workers. China has also peacefully annexed the terriroies of Hong Kong and Macao, giving them a boost to their economy.

some loyalist forces.

separate when so desire.
India expands - both through peace and war
India agreed to an agreement with Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Nepal for those 3 nations to merge
their economy and military with India, but keep semi-autonomous rights over their respective
areas of land.

But, India has also over-run East Pakistan with troops, and are seeming ready to do the same for

Malaysia is the first nation of any to start designing a new technology. Rumor has it that this
new Tank will be very powerful, and far better then any modern-day tanks. Malaysia has also
been extending its hand to other nations nearby, and will surely sign an economic pact sometime
soon with their neighbours, which will do a lot of good for the struggling Malaysian economy.
Japan - The new center of the world?
Japan has taken the initiative and proposed that the new United Nations be based in Nagasaki,
the city that people once thought would take 70 years to get rid of the pollution from the Atomic
Bomb that struck it in 1945, but is now back on its feet, and thriving. Many nations around the
world have agreed to join, including Finland, Norway, Italy, Sweden, a number of African
nations, Turkey, Iraq and Iran, Afghanistan, Mexico, Panama, Indonesia, and many other nations
(Full list to be released tomorrow). This is expected to boost Japans economy greatly. Also,
Japan, with so much experience with cleaning up Nuclear Pollution, has developed a method of
cleaning its Nuked cities of Kyoto and Sapporo in just one year (2 updates from now).
Furthermore, with the USA removing its troops, Japan has changed its pacifist Constitution, and
now no longer has limits on the size of its Military. Japan was unable to claim any American
Military Equipment, as the USA evacuated its Military Units back to the USA. Furthermore,
Japan has discovered 3 nuclear weapons, undetonated, off its coast (marked by black xs).
Furthermore, Japan has massively invested in its education and Industry, making Japan one of
the most productive nations on this planet, and certainly the most well-educated. Japan is
rapidly getting back on her feet.

Martial Law has been declared in Colombia! This was done to ensure that Colombia is more
secure, after the riots which left many people dead. The nation is slowly returning to stability,
thanks to prompt Government action. Martial Law is not something that many Colombians will
like for very long though.

Argentina has signed an historic deal to have the economies of Argentina, Uruguay, Chile,
Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela and Ecuador work closer together. This is being accomplished
through short-term regulations on Business and Industrial production and wages until the
economies stabilize in those countries, and they have also agree to conform their Pollution,
Labor, Patent, and Banking Laws, that will make it easier for these nations to trade. They have
agreed on one set standard for their currency, and are discussing the idea of having one common
currency. Furthermore, they have agreed to a mutual defense pact, and to have their militaries
coordinated by one regional coordination center, of this the location was not announced. This is
a very historic treaty, and an example for the world. Invitations are opened to Brazil, the
Falkland Islands, and Colombia, should they choose to join. The immediate benefit of this is
that all nations involved get an economic bonus of their economy being raised by one level, and
this applies to any nation joining as well. More benefits will surely come in the years ahead.

worlds temperature has dropped by 5 degrees celcius, and say that they have no predictions
about the future drop in temperature. This is less then their previous estimates of 7-10 degrees
celcius. They were non-commental when asked if the world could survive this, only saying that
everybody will have to wait and see. They have warned that the massive Oil Fires in Kuwait and
the Middle East must be put out, that they are having a fairly significant impact upon the Earths
temperature and warming.
Oil Shortages? Yup. Its gonna happen, says some of the worlds largest remaining oil
companies. Even with the Demand in the USA and USSR down to virtually nil, Oil shortages
will still be occurring. They are urging nations to world towards getting Saudi Arabian Oil
flowing again, and to put out the horrendous Oil First in the ME. Also, all nations should work
together on this through the new UN, or chaos will results, warned these companies.
Massive Earthquakes, volcanoes, and other nastiness. Massive Earthquakes have devastated the
USA, but no real damaged was done. Earthquakes of 8-9 in magnitude are being felt there, but
they have been diminishing in these past few days. No US citizens were hurt, or killed, since the
epicenters were all along the Nuked uninhabited areas of the USA. Volcanoes have been more
active as of late, and Mt. St. Helens exploded in the USA, once again, killing nobody.
Earthquakes have been felt in other parts of the world, particularly Europe, and Asia, near the
USA, but no reports of casualties. Japan has had some minor tremors, but nothing big thus far.
More Nukes detonate in the UK! At least 20 massive detonations occurred in the UK. This is
likely a result of part of the UKs arsenal detonating. Since Spain evacuated most UK citizens,
the only real damage will be to the Earth, and contributing to the pollution and such. Other

His Holiness, the new Pontiff (Pope), is currently undergoing a massive upgrade of the Catholic Church. He has chosen some very strong leaders at the top of the Church, and he is spreading the word among Christains all over the world that this nuclear War is an act of Satan, and that all god Christains must work against these terrible, terrible weapons. Christains in Europe and world wide are listening very attentively, and hanging on to his every word, for he is a wise and good Pope. There have been rumblings among the verious Protestant and other Christain sects about re-joining the Catholic Churc, and many Anglicans that fled the UK have joined the Catholic Church again. Jessuit Priests have gone around the world, and the Pope has been very active in working to clean up the pollution, helping the poor, homeless, etc. This has gained him great admiration among his followers. He has also been helping the Spanish Government attract the remaining educated persons like Doctors, Socialogists, etc. to Spain.

Technologies:
Techs are exactly as they sound like. They are newer, bigger, better version of what you already have. A fantastic example if Malayisia's new Tank that they are developing. Currently everyone has "Tanks" or "Fighters". These are the base unit, all pretty much the same. In order to get better units, you must develop them, as projects. You describe what you want, I tell you if its feasible or not, and tell you how long, and how much eco it shall cost.
Conscription:
If you want, you can conscript your citizens into your army. Not that these conscripts will not be very well trained, basically just regular people in uniforms and with guns, and will be easily killled, and will run away if the going gets too tough. But, if you need troops, then, well, good cheap source. This will be VERY unpopular, and, if, you conscript too much, and for too long, your people get unhappy, your stability goes down, and you get civil unrest. Not that good Stories might help with that.
Mobilization:
Rather like Mobilization in all other Games. You can only spend your eco on military units and troops, but you get more of them. This is basically for going to war, and you get a bonus eco every 3 turns while in mobilization. like Conscription, this is not popular, and will lead to trouble if it goes on too far. Note that this and Martial Law are different.
Colonies:
I have decided to change this, all your colonies will be in your stats, which will save me from having to make totally new stats just for your colony. It will look like this:
Colonies: (Colony name, Colony Economy, Troops you have in the Colony, Colony Education Level, Colony Industry Level, Colony Stability)
The troops in there will not be included in your stats. You get to spend the colonies economy, but note that Colonies are likely to want independence at some point.
Some other notes - Many of you may look at the Nuclear Pollution with dismay and think "If it keeps spreading, we are all screwed!" Don't worry. From what I have read, I have determined that the Pollution will settle down eventually. So, for those smaller blasts, the pollution will hardly move at all in the next update. For the bigger blasts (like the UK, USSR, and USA), those blasts will take awhile to stop moving, 'specially the UK. Basically, whereever they are going now, they will keep going for a couple more turns, causing serious harm wherever they go. Think of those as masssive clouds of dust, radiation, etc.
Also, I have been fairly lenient for my first update, as is to be expected. I will not be so lenient in the future. You guys need to pay attention to my hints, or I will bring down some fairly nasty crisis on your collective heads. Some of you have been paying attention to my hints, and I reward that, and I also reward creativity. Note that most, if not, all PC nations got rewards this time. Will not be so in the future.
Also a special THANKS! goes to Feanor for helping me with Africa. Its the one continent that I know the least about, and Feanor basically told me everything I need to know. Thanks, mate!
Finally, the white regions on the map, and antions, are those in which there is no civil order at all, complete anarchy, no control at all, riots, looting, starvation, random killings, no semblance of peace at all. With the breakdown of the United Kingdom, all of the UK's colonies are in this state, as well as all Portugese ones, since Spain never stated what to do with the Portugese Colonies.
I have yet to finish the stats, the NPC stats are a complete Mess. I will do that after my *groan* Java class today.

The Republic of South Africa
Charles Robberts Swart, president of the Republic of South Africa, addressing the senate.Senators, Our Analysts predict that almost one fifth of the world population has perished and even more people Will die from radiation and starvation, however if the unaffected world intervenes many lifes could be saved. *Pauses one moment to drink some water*
South Africa is far from being a neighbor of anyone struck by Nuclear Weapons and will unlikely suffer from Radiation Clouds or Refugees, however this does not mean that South Africa can just sit down and watch as the World Struggles for survival, South Africa must act soon and help our brothers who are in dire need of aid, we have managed to re-establish contact with a good deal of his embassies and trough International channels we have been able to determinate witch embassies were destroyed, many nations are still struggling to form governments and to restore order in their nation, heavy radiation contaminated most of their water sources and fertile soil making it very difficult to survive, sending them water and food would be a colossal and futile task, after consulting with advisors and city planners our think-tank came up with a solution, its called project New Eden *lights are turned out, a projector stats projecting sketches on a large wall*
Project Eden consist in the construction of several great cities, these Cities will be holding up to 2 Million People spread over 20 Districts each housing 100.000 people, each district will be called after the Region or City its inhabitants come from and each City will be called after the Nation were its inhabitants come from with the suffix stadt to complete the name, for example, a Texans would live in the Texas district of Americastadt.

The Most important thing of these cities will be the means of transportation, each city is planned to have an extensive subway system for the Centrum, a tram system for its suburbs, train stations for Freight and Intercity travel and roads for Pedestrian and Bicycle use, the only cars allowed will be those of the Police, Ambulances, Fire trucks and whoever gets special dispensation from the mayor. This mass transportation will also be applied to our current cities, solving our oil crisis. The Major Advantages from this Mass transportation systems will be that it drastically reduces traffic jams, it is practically clean thus not damaging health and helping to stabilize our shaky environment and it solves the current Oil crisis. However there are some major Disadvantages too, the cost to build such system are colossal and our power usage would instantly increase by 500%, however we have no choice unless any of you knows a formula to transform water in Oil *laughter*
Another Challenge for us will be the feeding of these Cities and the Food Aid for those who stay in the Nuked nations, our think-tank came up with a solution to this problem that will solve an other grave problem of south Africa too, currently the unemployment under the Negroid population is over 90%, while our current Bantustan policy (OOC: the Bantustans were much like Native Americans reservations) keeps them fed and out of our cities many of them grow unrest full, the solution to this is in a revision of our Bantustan policy, currently we placed the blacks in 10 big autonomous reservations, what we should do is spread them in hundreds of reservation, each reservation close to an extensive farming complex were they will labor and produce massive amounts of food *most senator give approving mumbles and some even stand up and applauded the President*
