Speech By President Kaneda Of The People's Republic Of Nigeria
'My comrades and brothers of Nigeria, on this truly historic day we see the beginning of a reformation of Africa's greatness and the might of Nigeria. No longer shall we, brothers, be oppressed by the empires of Europe and America, today we can stand alone as a nation. Those empires of greed and oppression have collapsed and now it is our great duty to rebuild Africa once more.
As of this morning our almighty forces have entered Cameroon and they begin to fight the battle for liberation of the African peoples. This battle for liberation shall not be easy, but with the gods on our side we have the power to help liberate all of our African brothers. Our troops shall fight with steely determination in order to create this liberation and free all those oppressed by the empires of Europe. For the empires of Europe have corrupted and raped our great lands and now we must unite to end this pillaging and bring a great new dawn upon the African lands.
The Europeans speak of freedom and democracy, what do they know of freedom?! They have turned Africa from a land of beauty and tranquility to a land raped of all it's greatness. We must embrace the arts of war passed down by our ancient ancestors and use it to banish these demons of European 'freedom' and 'democracy' from our lands. With these powers we shall strike forth at those who would oppress our brothers and make them flee at the sound of our hardened cries of war, for now we seek revenge for the millions of Africa's peoples made to suffer in the name of 'freedom' and 'democracy'. Death must be brought to all those who seek to defy our peoples the revenge we crave, for only the death of these oppressors can satisfy our cause.
The people of Africa and Nigeria must rise to meet the challenges of this righteous crusade, we must turn the rivers red with the blood of our enemies and fear nothing until we can cleanse our lands of these appalling evils.
Glory for Africa! Glory for Africa! Glory for Africa!'
Background Information
Obafemi Kaneda was born on the 16th August, 1909, in Lagos, Nigeria. Born into extreme poverty he joined the Militia For Nigerian Freedom in 1927. For years he fought trying to help gain Nigerian independance in vain. Following a failed terrorist attack in 1936 he was forced to flee Nigeria and went on the run throughout Africa. Although in 1941 he was caught by British troops in Somalia and sent to a British prison in Nigeria.
In was during this time in prison that he formed the Glory For Africa movement. The movement was committed to the violent overthrow of all European oppression throughout the whole of Africa.
Kaneda remained in prison until 1958 when he was released as part of a goodwill gesture by the British government prior to independence. During the period of 1958 and Nigerian independence in 1960, Kaneda set about building up his new organisation. When independence finally came, he immediatly began to move towards overthrowing the newly formed democratic government whom he accussed of being a new form of European oppression.
With vast public support behind his movement and the new government crumbling, Kaneda made his move. On the 22nd of September 1961, Kaneda led the militant wing of his Glory For Africa movement and took control of the Nigerian government declaring himself absolute President of The People's Republic of Nigeria.
Although he faced stiff sanctions from the British government who were concerned at this new extremist government taking power. As such Kaneda's movement was unable to begin to enact his policies of liberation for Africa. But with the nuclear war of 1962, the door was left open for President Kaneda to begin his quest for the 'cleansing' of Africa...
