so here's the deal, i want a laptop that i can play good games on, but it cant be too expensive. so say 600 dollars max.

any suggestions?

for that range, how trusting are you? Consider something used on eBay?

And, what level of gaming are we talking - do you have some particular games or specs in mind?

i would not like something used.

as for level of gaming, i dunno. why are you asking such hard questions?

i dont have anything specific in mind, but i want to be able to buy a game without having to worry if my computer will be able to run it. ive noticed alot of computers with 3 or 4 gigs of ram and dual core processors and large hard drives( my current HD is 70 gigs, i only have 25 gigs left of free space:( ) that weren't to expensive....

He's asking such questions because for 600$, dont expect a machine that can do anything besides basic gaming. Civ 4 maybe, Crysis definite no. You want a computer for gaming, get a desktop. You want a computer for mobility, get a laptop. You want both? be prepared to spend quite a bit more than 600$ ( Believe me, I know, I was looking for laptops recently as well)

The "I need a good laptop for under $600" game is not a fun game to play.

Laptops are expensive.

If you are serious about trying to get a laptop, you might want to check out a website called notebookreview.com. There is a good discussion board there, and a sub forum called "which notebook should I buy?"

Yeah, unfortunately, I asked because I was kinda doubting you could end up with a good gaming setup for $600 - at least, not with your hope of being able to buy games without worrying if your setup can run it.

To give you an idea, I'm also in the market for a gaming laptop as mine just died. The cheapest I've found so far that fits my gaming requirements is $2500, and the most expensive is $3800 (which would be nice, but I'm having a hard enough time coming up with the 2.5k, so probably not gonna happen... :( )

So, for $600, if you find it, heck, let us know - we'd be thrilled!

I can show you one for 800$ ;)
Clicky
Its the one Im going to buy. Decent specs, good price, good weight.

I went to Newegg, looked at the laptop 'deals' and sorted the list by 'best' consumer reviews and around $600 or less:

Looks like you'll get about 2ghz dual core CPU and 2-3 GB ram. Ok, but definitely not blazing by today's standards. You'll be playing games that are 1-2 years or older at best (e.g. Civ4).

I suspect if you really want it all, you'll need to raise your price point to $800 to $1000.

Probably better to drop the gaming laptop and just go with low-end business Dell like the Vostro, or a used laptop: http://www.usedlaptops.com/

Then the remaining money can be put towards an XBOX or upgrades on your PC.
