so would it work well? if not what should improve. (im not a big computer gamer)

Looking at those scores, it isn't your computer that will be a problem. It's your graphics card. To get any reasonable performance with Vista, you need a score of at least 3 on your graphics index, especially with Aero enabled.

Even a dirt cheap Radeon 3450 like mine will give a score of 3.5 to 4, and that's more than adequate to play Civ. (And quite a few other things, too. :))

My advice would be to break open that piggy bank, and go out and buy a modestly good graphics card. I prefer ATI cards myself, but there are a number of good, reasonably inexpensive Nvidia cards as well. If you aren't playing really graphics heavy games, you don't need to spend a fortune. ;)

My laptop plays Civ 4 quite happily with scores very similar to yours except on the graphics. The lowest score, for gaming graphics is 3.1 and that is with onboard intel graphics! So you certainly don't need to spend a fortune on a graphics card now to get Civ 4 to play.

1.0 sounds way too low even for integrated graphics. Do you have your video card drivers properly installed?
