Good map for a semi-rookie?

I've been playing Civ 5 for a while (3 months) and i'm familiar with lots of strategies, civs etc. I'm kind of stuck as to what I should play next. Does anybody know any fun map settings/combinations, or anything similar?

One pointentially fun setting is to delete your starting settler as Germany. Then you are a barbarian. I can't remember who came up with it, and I haven't tried it myself, but that could be something off-the-wall for you to try. Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but there you go.
