Anyone have a good starting civ for multi player?

I'm new to the game - I've got the basics pretty well down.

Also anyone have a good Youtube link with someone explaining tips etc... for new players.

I've searched on Youtube but can't seem to find anything decent.

Thanks.

ps - finding a game in multi player sucks.

What do you mean by finding a game in multi-player? If you have trouble finding opponents, go to the settings in steam to change your server.

The French are strong in multi-player and straightforward to use.

Civs do not differ that much. Though some are a bit stronger. France is one of them.

depends what type of player youi are, there is probably a civ that suits you if you build up or war rush or like water maps or like to wonderspam, i suggest going random and learn how civs and terrain changes the game

They almost have all something decent to offer. They are pretty well balanced for mp.

This. Play random ! You will learn to positively use all trait. And not be addict to one specific civ.

france is best..try them out first and learn them well......my advise is 2 pick 1 civ that you play everytime...then you get experiense 2 play other civ 2..gg

I hope this doesnt count as advierticing. In the thread there are indeed links to groups. I merly try to answer the question how to get around the problem of finding gg.

I ve posted a brief guide for players new to the multiplayer eperience in civ here:

I plan to update it once in a while when I see something that can be of use.

To answer the question of what civ to play. I was hooked on persia for a long while since i was more than desent at abusing the golden age. If I survived a game until classical I pretty much had constant GA after that. Well as some allready pointed out. France is a good civ aswell. Mostly because you get a slight head start and If you use it well a head start can mean a lot. I think you should try different civs to see what fits you. Some are harder, some easier but you learn a lot more if you gamble a bit and play random.
