What is a good XML editor to use? I'm trying to enable the barbarian civ, but my XML files always open in a web browser, and I cannot edit the code. Thanks.

Futzy has a good program you can use. A little buggy for me but it still works.

I love the Microsoft Visual Studio Express tools... they all have excellent XML support, and they're free

XMLSpy is definitly the best, and only costs a few hundred dollars. :(

XML Spy is free...

Unless you want to pay for it.

I downloaded the 2006 Professional Edition from their site - free.

I see where you can get the eval for 30 days for free, but its time bombed. Do you see a place on their site where you can get a non-timed bombed version for free?

They have the free home use version which is powerful enough for most modding Civ4.

Notepad rules!
If I ever get confused with brackets or the like, I check it in jEdit (free, nice, color-coding, multi-window) but I just prefer notepad.

XML Marker makes .xml files look much more friendly than in Notepad ;)

I'm really surprised that no one uses BBedit or HTMLkit... both have xml along with html, not that you'd need the latter for anything here, but they are both nice suites... htmlkit I think is free also... bb is not.

The "free" home edition only allowed features for 24 hours.
It also needs you to download a license but that probably doesn't matter.
