If I signed up for google alert with multiple words, does that mean I will get an email if an article comes up with just one of those words included, or does it have to be all of them?

I get google alerts, and for multiple words, yes. You get even if only one word.

Cool thanks. I set one up today with five or so words in it separated by commas.

It gets messy after a while. For example, I have google alert for Tom Petty, and i'm getting blogs for "petty politics" and stuff like that.

Is it possible to set an alert for "Tom Petty" (with quotes) and not get petty politics? I know this works for Google searches, but I've never signed up for alerts so I'm not sure if it will there.
