Sorry my ignorance, I don't have Google Earth installed and I can't see for myself, but G Earth's terrain is that better? One of the things I most liked on Civ 5 was the terrain, with tesselation and Dx11 it's beautiful. But if the difference is like Civ 4 x Blue Marble I would want to see that.

I agree, I like it but could be more realistic. I'll install g earth and see, and if it's doable I'll try a startup here - since my aim to help civ 5 to get better will be more useful on gfx (altough I'm really excited about the scripting environment) =]
As soon as I get to grips with the tools, I'll most likely be releasing a whole bunch of graphics packs, like Mars, Futuristic, Fallout, real earth, fantasy earth, and specialized locations, such as Australian terrain, etc.
