got dsl, wanna host full game, super map(30000 sq.) everything optimized by expert

I do not believe I have your e-mail adress, patient and exemplarily perseverant general, although i am sure it is my fault for not remembering from earlier instance when it was shown to me, but I will need it nevertheless if you are to receive the packet of info only the gameplayers are going to receive...

I will be able to play on Saturdays at 5:00pm-12:00am, On Sunday's at 7:00pm-12:00am, on weekdays 9:30 pm-12:00am.
I have a cable internet connection. Once again, thanks for going through this effort, I hope you don't have to be placed next to me........a shame it would be. ;)

Sorry Father my apologies but I thought you were wise... but no, at the least I thought, assumed rather, that you were literate...

If you had read the game proposition, the first thing you should ever have read, or perhaps you forgot it already out of pitiful memory, you would know that I stated something most clearly about the layout of cities and the realistic topography. Is the Earth just one big Eden? Certainly not; it has its bits of heaven and more than its fair share of hellbits, just as my expert, judging from your words considerably more expert than you, mapmaking abilities have duplicated in near perfection. So why, if may I ask someone so readily to title himself with reverence and speak with an air of such aged dignity as you have and do, would you babble on with such ignorant presumptuousness on a topic of which you quite obviously speaking from your ( jealousness of true, not pretended, mastery, maybe) lack of vision and insight.

For you sound in your preaching, father, as if you are trying to dissuade these fine players I have amassed, or rather which have brought themselves here out of their own good sense, from believing me, as if I have lied in all my claims. If you think this reply is harsh, I ask YOU FIRST! Certainly I am glad to see such a response for my offer to host, since it takes skill to attract skill, but why do you come here with such a menacing and yet oblivious tone!?!

YOU DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME, THOUGH THAT IS STRANGE, FOR ONE WOULD THINK THESE MANY HUNDREDS OF PARAGRAPHS OF WORDS MIGHT START TO GIVE YOU SOME NOTION< AND YET YOU UTTER FOOLISHNESS!! AS FOR THE REST YOU, MAKE UP YOUR OWN MINDS, BUT THIS ONE CHARACTER HAD BETTER RECOGNIZE THAT I AM NOT LASHING OUT AT HIM FOR ANGER'S SAKE, BUT THAT HE SHOULD READ HIS PAST COMMENTS AND SEE JUST HOW STUPID THEY ARE. I HOPE TO MAKE AMMENDS WITH YOU, FATHER, SO THAT YOU MAY EVEN JOIN THIS HIGH TABLE, BUT FIRST YOU MUST RESPOND AND EXPLAIN YOURSELF!!!! IGNORING ME NOW WOULD BE THE OBVIOUS RESPONSE OF SOMEONE GUILTY WITH THE CHARGES LAID UPON HIM!!

THE WRATH OF NICOSAR IS QUICKLY STIRRED, AND IT IS A WISE WRATH!! DO NOT COME INTO MY DOMAIN WITH SUCH DISRESPECT, AGAIN...

I am on Central America time.
Bye the way.....I want to tell all those gamers that build 1 troop and expand quickly with settlers, and try to build the pyramids fast.....do not try this strategy in this game! I will walk into any town that has less than 3 troops. It's not worth guessing I'm nowhere nearby....your only hope for this strategie is if you're on an island, otherwise protect every city heavily. I will test if you are worthy of peace...this test will be make or break you. I will attempt to take every city in my path with at least 3 troops at a time, if you withstand the test, I will leave your city alone. Including you Nicosar.

HAHAHAHHahahahahahaha, I like your words, indeed they resound with a confidence hard to match!! Excellent debut onto the scene DDAy, one I could hardly hope to better even with my quick-triggered tongue!

I warn you now though, the pyramids as well as most of the wonders have been taken from the game, since they suffer from ridiculousness and would just plague it with their flaws. How can you build one huge granary and then build an island city far away which automatically benefits from it? or some great wall that acts not as a border defense but some immediate wall surrounding each city that is instantaneously spawned the minute the city is erected, walls that in ancient times sometimes took a decade in the slow building? No, sorry friends, but as I said this game has been optimized, and that meant alot of adjusting. Do not worry there are still at least a third of the wonders left, (a lighthouse that can let the same type of boat as any other civ possesses inexplicably travel oceans on the other side of the world, plleaaassssseeee....), these being the plausible ones that do not grant superpowers to the civs that hold them, and although King Richard could be argued to be a little farsided its only effect is increased shields for one city, which is fine with me (Leonardo's workshop is the possibly the stupidest wonder of all, making an icredible amount of sense more in Civ 3, and less omnipotent too).

I just thought I'd explain that in a little bit of detail, but what I want to say is welcome Dday! Now all that is left is for GoJeero to haul his miserable carcass (whom will be showered with praise and called a gentleman and a scholar on arriving) over here. As for you, ( I believe I shall affectionately nickname you further: 'Comrade Boomstick') I will need as full a schedule as you can produce, such as the others have done.

I may have said this before, but now the time actually does draw near, do not lose faith yet, fellow players!

Dearest Nicosar,

While I am displeased with your tone and comments, I am happy to see you have some spirit in you after all. Please do not take my earlier comments as a personal attack. They were not meant to be antagonistic, not at all. Further, I have read your posts quite thoroughly and do not feel my words were ignorant, stupid or full of foolishness as you state.

Apparently unbeknownst to you, your defensive stance and attempt to lash out at me hint at your own insecurity. It seems you have garnered some respect from the wanna be rulers and kings of this forum. It would be a shame to make a mockery of your own maturity with further comments as seen above.

As I indicated, I welcome whatever task you place before me, and only offered my words as suggestions. Next time I will be more clear by stating "these are only suggestions" ... wait, I did that last time ;). In no manner have I attempted to dissuade the others from participating, and for you to read that into my post illustrates the shallowness of your own intellect.

I have enjoyed the apparently educated and entertaining dialogue in this post to date. I would have hoped that you would have taken my words in fun, as I have yours, and I will continue to do so but for this brief clarification. I trust that once you read this it will all be clear and you will retract your words lest I respond more, umm .. fully at a later date.

In the meantime, showing your own ignorance with your request, please use the little button above my post titled "email" to contact me ;)

I warn you now though, the pyramids as well as most of the wonders have been taken from the game

You have stated many of these facts about your game, haphazardly. If you are serious about this, as I hope you are, please attach a text file with all the changes you have made to your scenerio laid out in an organized and easy to read fashion. And another thing, why do we have "alternates" when we don't even have seven players who have commited to play. My advice, just brief the players, figure out the gametimes and lets get started!!

Very well, then , your holiness, I will not argue with the top humbler atop the humbling chain by which all others may be humbled...only informing you that while my response to your demeaning remarks on my ability to host a master game properly resonated unmistakeably with a note of anger, though it was more passion, spirit as you would say, then temper, your seemingly benevolent gentleness of speech is tainted with malice. Read it again, read what you just wrote, and you should easily see what all others see; for when I speak at least I say it directly and with a tone intended to strike a certain meaningful purpose, to warn you that you attack rather than 'suggest' as you would probably like, and not with this constant condenscending nobility with which you speak your pieces (though since this is a civ forum I hope it is merely a sign of your skill and not your personality).

It is natural for the noble to challenge my authority, since I have claimed the greatest mastery and still do, but you insult the others as well ,and needlessly, but that is not between us. I merely want to lay it all down, and very technically too, so the two of us can base this on reality and not your snootily insulting disposition or my quick anger:

6 islands? 6 ISLANDS? I have been known to pass some foul gasses but never something so huge and unsightly...where was this 'suggestion' aqcuired? I go back and I read your second post but nowhere is it mentioned 'I hope it is not some isolated situation', but you demean instanly my game proposition as if these are the inferiorities I have proclaimed. And as for Barbarians, they will be raging, as I also like them, but they will also have pre-built barbarian nations from which to spawn, in EVERY continent, of which there are only three huge ones, lest there be just one or two pangeas, so again, where does all this pre-supposing come from?

Here is my theory, I think perhaps when you begin this game, if you are so priviliged by the luck of one of our colleagues neglecting the time limit, you will look around, encountering more barbarian and human opposition than you wish, and start to see a playing environment unlike any you've ever seen, this I promise you, because I know now, just as I have said about Narz's game proposition (that it didn't impress me, without any MAJOR disrespect to him) that you are not on the master level yet if you have not realized what a shabby engine the computer uses to design maps; have you never played, before you had everything so honorably randomized, a map set on 'wet' and 'temperate'? Talk about false lushness, it is nothing but grassland sparsely dotted with forest and hills with a couple mountain pinpricks on little spindly landmasses where almost every city is coastal for lack of true continental realism, and it is a rare thing to land on the same place with more than one other comp, if even that!

You want to get even more technical? Maybe you've never tinkered with these giga maps I'm so used to but when you tell the computer to randomize it for you, putting it on continents and large landmass if you like, it gives you an even-looking spattering across the globe of archipelagos and little island continents; dont you get it?? Its not human, its working with a formula and so the bigger the map the more obvious that formula becomes, which is annoyingly simple and homogenous in construct, unlike my map which is devoted to the unpredictibility of the terrain; you could be in a fairly decent are of plains and mild grasslands one moment and then suddenly you strike a mountanious region with nothing but hills and carefully constructed valleys with hard-to -use forests in between them all stretching out for the next 20 squares in that direction! Tell me, good father, have you ever encountered such a situation in one your randomized maps?

So, now that your mastery is disproved on the issue and you rank below me in these affairs, I would ask you to pay a little bit of allegiance if you are interested in this tournament, and believe me, I almost wish GoJeero remains lost just to play you, and not in bitter feud but sportly challenge, by not trying to question me on crucial scenario aspects, all of which I could argue to a fine point as I have done the above to end them in supremacy above all other styles of play, which are immutable and will not anyway change. Accept them, if you accept this challenge, whole-heartedly and I only pray that you will not grow jealous upon seeing my game and realizing, though I don't expect you to admit, that it IS...THE definitive version of Civilization.

So father, maybe seeing as how I am trying to communicate with you after all and not defend myself needlessly against your snickering manners we can both stop being pricks and you can give me your full schedule...

...AND YOUR e-mail, I don't know if that little sadistic comment at the end of your reply was meant to suggest that I am blind and that I have been asking for everyone's adress like a fool, but again, if you read all the posts in this thread you will learn of the many pages of which I have spoken, and I don't see any easy to attach files with the civ fanatic's mailing system, and even if it did I would rather use my e-mail program than some fumbling website to do my communicating...

WOW!! HOLY (explicative deleted)!!! What a show! Are you two through yet? I hope not because it is infinitely entertaining :D

But on to more serious matters......I have e-mailed you my info again Nicosar. The first time, I had sent it to the first address that you posted. I sent it to the second address this time. Please let me know if you still have not recieved it. The "pigeon" still circles, with eagle talons and falcon beak at the ready. ;)

I received it. Do nothing now but spectate and comment if you must; my concern lies on others who have not been so eager...

But you are not circling anymore, you are now down and feasting on the remains of Flatlander Fox...or have you not heard...perhaps I was too subtle with the remark to you at the very top of this page but I'll say it plainer now: prepare yourself, general, and may you survive long enough to prove yourself worthy of the name...even a master of amateurs may be considered a master in his own way, BUT WE SHALL SEE!!!

Ummm Nico, I know its fun to argue with people, but you didn't address my above post at all. Rather than speculate about the players and talk about what makes a great map how about giving up the specs of the game, let us know who's playing (or if you don't have enough players, ask others to join) and on with the show! They'll be plenty of time for debating once the game is started...

- Narz :king:

The info is all coming, I've been busy the better part of the day trying to get this old scanner to function and I'm almost done. You're about to get more than you asked for!

I see you are online father, I will confess to my sins and admit the verbal manhandling of your sacred person if you leave things be and have a little faith, and pray you have enough wisdom to realize I put the same passion in jousting with you into the game, but ever more so to make truly a blessed divination of civdom.

Your words are not that of a young man, though your excitement rivals that of a teen experiencing a woman for the first time. It is this that exposes you Nicosar. Exposes perhaps the only weakness you have.

Despite your rather infantile attempts to berate me, I am still awaiting your challenge. Let me mention that I do not recall demeaning your ability to host a game. If you could point this out for me I would be most gracious. The only things I mentioned were my concerns about your familiarity with the map, my apparent incorrect assumption concerning its creation, and your at this time unknown proposed changes. Looking back I feel perhaps I confused your post with that of Narz's (sp?) concerning the islands. At this point I am not really sure, and don't really care. Your passion for ridiculing me, however, does peak my interest.

You seem an educated man Nicosar. It may be that your education will serve you well in the upcoming challenge, or perhaps it will be your downfall. Please do not confuse your map making skills (which intrigue me given what you have proffered) for mastery of the game itself. As they say, teachers teach because they cant "do". You seem more the teacher in my eyes.

Whether it is in the cards for me to participate or not remains to be seen, either way I wish you luck .... from my observations, you will need it. I say this not out of hatred for you, as I think I am rather fond of you, to be honest, despite the daggers you call words. I wish you luck because a true leader is able to maintain composure and has a special demeanor that I fear you lack.

I am flattered that you are so easily worked up by one such as me, and am sure you will conduct yourself appropriately in your upcoming game when faced with patently more challenging adversaries, of course. Your propensity for yelling and unsightly lack of class when stating "so that we can both stop being pricks" is disheartening and leads me to believe that perhaps you did not receive the pm I sent you making clear my intent here on these boards. Is this the case? If it is, and you had not received it before typing such garbage, then I will forgive you and continue with this charade. If you had received it, and despite my comments, continued to rant and rave like a schoolgirl, then I think my time is better spent elsewhere. I await your response to this specific question as using the term "prick" is so below you and I find it insulting. Feel free to email if you wish.

In closing, take some advice from a man of many years: Shed the shackles of military power of which you seem to dream, as it is not the strongest, nor the largest who prevails, but the wisest.

Me schedule (EST):

weekends 10 am until ....

Is there anything else that you require?

Ha! You must have posted moments before I did :)

I am a holy man Nicosar, of course I have faith. I am only disappointed that for a moment I felt I overestimated your ability to enjoy the war of words.

At this time, I too will concede that perhaps my earlier post could be misconstrued, accept your confession of passion, and we can all move on to enjoy that which we love .. Civilization at its best.

The light that burns brightest burns so very quickly and I tend to burn very brightly, but I do not intend on fading just yet.

I will dispense with the vulgarities common to this atmosphere of simplicity and inelegant directness, for it seems a master, though maybe frail underneath, has stepped forth in a cloak of bewildering power, and such a fine fabric must still be respected.

I wonder, for you speak as if from the clouds, and yet it is this distance into the warmth of hazy comfort that blurrs the cold hardness of the truth, though you are mostly right, which impresses ME, to a slight degree, since I have been dealing with lustful souls, mostly, and those few that carry sharpness in the form of phrases, not as daggers but delicate instruments, have a place in my mind as something mightier than the impulsive clamor wielded by the others...

Perhaps we should start over, no? For I have a certain keen ability to match my surroundings, a child older than the bright and youthful stars that fell to Earth in chameleon's clothing to lie hidden and safe till his mission be complete, and so I have an instinct for not seeming too foreign... if you would read my initial proposition, you would see that I carried a certain tone which held things lost to me now in this frenzy of new personalities ever morphing my arts of diplomacy, but now that someone of your, at least well feigned, caliber has shown I may drop some disguises.

Make no mistake, I do not warm up to you as someone wishing to appear a sturdy pupil in the eyes of one older and bursting with ripeness of wisdom so much so as to not allow any back in... but I do have some other skills besides absolute mastery in the greatest game of all, leadership as you called it seeming to harken naturally to me, but maybe you should keep observing, though I doubt you are one of those rare gems whom my kind has termed The Observers as if describing their proffession, for I have had no need so far, no opposition in strength, or so it has seemed, to show the cuirass laying hidden underneath the tattered cloak. Wisdom often hides in humble places, seeking shelter from the ravaging eyes of unstealthy and gloating power, waiting for a moment to strike, and I do not wish to be a victim, so let me now step forward and claim some further mastery not over just a game but over the will of others, for they will follow if I will it so.

I want you now to play more than before, if it is at all possible, Father, for even though you could be very well be one of those few whom could teach even Nicosar the meaning of strategy, i doubt it, and I think you have gained your air of superior might and wisdom by cultivating the abundant perfumes of lesser souls, and though you may have aroused some primal moments of retaliation on my behalf, (I thought you just a sprouting yearling wearing age and experience like a shallow arrogance and not a man who at least carries some of these traits underneath, as if they grew and were not fastened on) it was merely a weapon I pulled to deal with what i considered fickle and timid, but your resolute stance has given me a few thoughts to dwell upon, as Im sure some of these words may do...

I will not keep the ears of many overlong, especially since all this dialogue is but a discourse between men who speak in public and yet say things with subtlety, always hinting of something deeper and unknown to the masses, but if you wish to speak of age and teachers who cannot perform for lack of true and inner strength then I will add only that I perhaps have yet to teach you something; though something most valuable called the secret fire, and though you may snicker, having heard this before, it is real I assure you, and it is the greatest power in the universe an organism may possess, you are clearly inveterate and slightly venerable, though even gamblers sound wise when inside their casinoes, but we will see whether or not you glow with life or if there is dullness beneath that grand cloak of yours I have put aside myself in respects to the peasantry...

HERE ME ALL, HERE ME NOW! I am officially declaring Gojeero as an alternate, and I am advancing The Father to the state of player. I hunger now for a duel with all of you, but especially now that it includes this mysterious wild-card. We will see soon, now I suppose, if that cloak hides some fancier armor or a hand so quick it needs no oafish heaviness to protect it as he would have even me believe.

Weaknesses are merely an idleness in the process of adaption of Father, if you would be apt in taking some advice from someone young yet beyond his ears, and the light that burns the brightest fires off so many hues of color and intensity to the unknowing eye it all seems just a blinding white glare.

Beautifully written Nicosar. Oh how I do enjoy this. Alas, the talking must stop and the game must begin.

I do not wish to allow our fun to "bump" one who came before me. If he fails to respond, or concedes his place, I would be honored to join your circle.

With that I bid you goodnight.

"A politicians true mastery of language is found in utilising verbosity to mask lack of substance"
You two claim to be sages yet speak like politicians, any 18yo can use a thesaurus. But don't let me stop the bickering, it was rather amusing. For the sake of brevity I hope you can curtail your speeches when it comes to in-game diplomacy, the preceding posts would lead me to believe a simple tech swap could take half an hour to work out.
I HATE some of the random maps that get doled out. And I look forward to a new and exciting game without some of said wonders.
