Sooooo... who holds the cup????

I declared war on Brazil in 25 AD. I capture five of their cities, before giving them peace in exchange for Calendar and Monotheism in 580.

I went to war against Belgium in 660. By 940, I've captured all of their four cities and resumed the war with Brazil. I capture three more cities and raze one to destroy Brazil in 1090.

Belgium had built the Pyramids, so in 1150 I revolt to Police State, Bureaucracy and Theocracy. I'm planning for war until the end of the game. The Dutch, who are my Buddhist friends, have been attacked by Chile and France, but for some reason, they never ask for my help. (Both Chile and France have asked and been refused.) They make peace with France in 1150, so I join the war against Chile in 1180. By 1360, their four cities are mine.

I declare war on France in 1390, capturing three cities by 1480. One of their remaining cities is behind Colombian borders, so I declare war on Colombia, too. France is destroyed in 1525. With Colombia down to two cities, I achieve a Domination victory in 1540, with 116,772 points.

I'm sure others will have faster victories, but this is the best result I've ever had with vanilla. :)

This was a fast and easy game. I think it was my fastest domination ever. Is that really a standard size map?

Eliminating one of each pair:
- 1720 BC: Costa Rica
- 640 AD: Chile
- 1070 AD: Belgium (Brazil had done some of the work, but I razed Marc Wilmot's last city (Reims)
- 1140 AD: Columbia.

France was eliminated by Columbia, before I even met them.

I had peace with Brazil the whole time and Brazil was pleased since I joined their war against Belgium which was rather early. I however did not do much, but waiting until Belgium was down to the last city while I was busy with Columbia.

I finished by a 1210 domination with 104000 + something points.

Well, not quite my best effort, but pretty close. I started with SIP. I must have done BW before AH because I saw that Costa Rica had copper nearby. I sent my warrior to choke him, but he killed that one. I sent another one, and then went Archery -> HBR. It might have been a little overkill, but I went with HA's to kill them off. I used my military advantage to destroy France as well.

From there I buckled down to get an economy running and stayed peaceful for a while. By the time I got to Knights, Brazil had reduced Belgium to two cities. I decided to go in and finish him off. Then, after the RL World Cup semifinal, I knew that I must destroy Brazil. I brought in the Cavalry for that and when they finished there I sent them over to Colombia.

Domination in 1730.

I was heading toward a conquest but ended with a domination. Only Colombian were left (in the NE next to Luis)

I just realized I never even built the HE. Duhhhhh.:crazyeye:

Ended the game in 1190 AD with 139k points. I did not read the game well. Since it took forever to go from 40% land to 50% land I thought I had enough time before it get to 62% and did not think I will trip domi that quickly. Fastest domi should be around T150 for this game. Oh well next time.

Killed 3 AIs by 1 AD (horse-archers), and then peacefully went for space. 1685 victory (should have been a turn before but missed some micro), about 90k points.

I started planning for space, but somehow got bored with this game, so I just tripped domination sometime around 1550 or so....

Wow, domination much? Guess it's befitting to go for conquest or domination with this kind of theme.

In my case mapmaker's plan to force elimination of one team in each group, if that was his intention, failed (not that it is his fault).
When Germany met other teams, they were all "love and peace" with each other, so Joachim's duty was to eliminate them himself.
But since Joachim got hit in the head by ball in Pinto's last attack, he started acting weirdly and instead of attacking other teams, Joachim infected most of them with Germany's very own Hinduism, gifted techs and hoped to return Germany to their rightful place as weltmeister without fighting...

Btw, I still don't get diplomacy mechanics. Jorge was friendly with me (+14) and Jose (+14) but he voted for Jose. Why not for ME??? Is it because they actually are Capac twins?

Oh, and the map size definitely seemed smaller than standard. Maybe it's because of cropped borders..

In part yes, but not directly....

The attitude you see displayed is not the total attitude. There are also hidden elements to it. One hidden elements is simply a small random number (+1 to -1 or so, I think), and another is the "peaceweight", which makes warmongers like warmongers, and peaceniks like peaceniks... This of course also makes people like their own twin.

Having said that, I *think* that even if the real attitude is tied, than they still vote agianst the human. I think you actually have to have a 1 point better real attitude to get the vote.

Thanks for the explanation, Jastrow. I guess you can never trust those cheating AI bastards
Conquest and domination FTW!

Well, count me in for the domination victories, though Domination wasn't my target, I am chasing Gold!

I got domination is 1400 something, only after I had maxed out my score at 181k. If I had timed it perfect I would have had 184k, but it wasn't to be.

Took out the Brazilians at around the 1500bc mark with an overkill 6 chariots, from there consolidated until I got Cats & Elephants. Was about to DoW Loius, but I got Dowed by Scolari a few turns before. No worries, send the army south instead of east.

Left only 3 AI still alive, but not in the correct order to qualify for the special award.

I am thoroughly fed up and bored with football. I couldn't care less about it (well that's not true, I care enough to type this, just my caring is totally negative in value).
This game had far too many leaders with the same first name and far too many strange names and nationalities. It's frustratingly boring trying to figure out which identical-looking leader is making this ultimatum or that threat when their names mean nothing.

I had a surprisingly difficult start and I had to check this really was only prince level game. Of course RNG caused me to lose early battles with favorable odds so that should explain some of my tardiness in eliminating the whatever civ we started in war with.

Very late space victory, couldn't be bothered to declare on anyone late in the game, just wanted it to end. Like I said, fed up with football.
Spoiler :
Just hope they won't give Putler some future football games like they inted to, we all have seen what he does after Russia loses early in the games. Finland kicked Russia in the Olympic games ice hockey and Putler invaded Crimea. Finland may be the next target when Russia loses some games again. Rather give the football games to North korea than to Russia, or maybe not to ANY dictatorship anywhere. We saw what happened with Belarus getting IHWC games...

Spoiler :
FIFA already confirmed that they won't move 2018 World Cup from Russia. As long as these money slaves get their millions, they don't give a sht about who or where hosts WC.

Sorry for off topic.

After a disappointing beginning, I trained my Knights to invade the Sampaoli lands in 1140 AD. During this war, Deschamps and Scolari declared against me! This disturbed a little my invasion. But, as my usual mistake, I stopped the war before time (If I continued to build more Knights I would take all the cities, but I didn't believe in myself :()... Peace in 1240 AD.
Then I went to Cavalry and upgraded my Knights. With this Army, the Southwest continent was taken: -Scolari (1685 / 1700 AD) – Wilmots (1775 / 1790 AD). Then my Cavalries went to van Gaal' lands (1828 / 1838 AD).

After that I found myself in a different and weird situation: all my lands (with no more space to settle) had 60,36% and the three Empires had defensive pacts:
- Sampaoli was very strong with Riffles, Cavalries and Artilleries: my Cavalries would not be enough and Deschamps would also declare against me.
- If I attacked Deschamps (also strong), Sampaoli would declare.
- my only chance was to attack J. Pekerman, but Sampaoli would declare me. And to attack Pekerman I’d need Astro (for Galleons) and also invade Sampaoli or Deschamps borders (all closed).

I couldn’t invade one and defend my cities from another. And now, what to do for more 2% of lands ? I decided by a pacific different way: I would start to build Great Artists and would try to expand the border cities in an attempt to get some tiles. (I still don't know if this plan can work?)

But Sampaoli declared and I started to attack him slowly, till capture one city and my borders expand to more of 62%, giving me the Domination :whew:. It was in 1918 AD. As I predict, a strong candidate for the slowest award (but with great vigor !)

In the end I had some fun, but I stayed very frustrated with my 11 x 2 first war :ack:. Certainly the game would be very different than it was!

50 BC conquest with horse archers.

Quite an easy game with gems, nearby horses, lots of forests and a small map, so I would not be surprised if someone got even earlier date.

-SIP, 2nd city near the horses, 3rd somewhere in between, near the rice (which I never even farmed :p ).
-Worker, AH first
-Popped gems in capital.
-Found only one hut and got a Löw amount of gold. (Bad pun, I know...)
-Winnie the Pooh ate my scout.

Thanks for the game.

1630 completed removing one of each pair

Perhaps I will post more next week.
