Entries were down a bit this month, maybe due to the game being a bit harder? At least the results are out ina more timely manner.

It was a comfortable win for Bemep, getting to the top spot after a couple of previous top-10 finishes. Cactus Pete grabbed another medal as well as fastest conquest, and hhhawk got the bronze.

Thanks for the results Ainwood.

Congrats to the winners, another very closely fought game.

Spaceship victory: 1853, 1857, 1858 ! close

Diplomatic victory: 2 players tied on 1640 and 2 more on 1700 (my shameless plug for recognition :))

Cultural and Domination well contested too :goodjob:

Every civ reachable by galley but the first finish was only 1430AD.

Hooray! Go, team!

:wow: 10th place!!??! :woohoo:

And Erkon, congratulations on your unexpected award. Can't wait to hear what DynamicSpirit has to say about it... :mischief:

Congrats all and very close competition for all the category awards

Two diplos tied for 1640 :wow:

Close cultures @1760 and 1778 (9 turns?)

3 Spaces all within 5 turns!!!!:aargh:

And even the dominations at 1472 and 1502 (15 turns?)

:wow: 10th place!!??! :woohoo:

And Erkon, congratulations on your unexpected award. Can't wait to hear what DynamicSpirit has to say about it... :mischief:

:trophy: Thanks! :woohoo:

I'm more worried what DS will DO, now that he's been elevated to staff position

But it was most unexpected. Shame on those who did not beat me! :hide:

Congrats to everyone who performed well, and thanks to the staff who relentlessly organizes the XOTM :worship:

EDIT: Let the participants of this game notice and bear witness to the oath given by DynamicSpirit. Let these words bind him to the end of days. :deal:

Thanks, Erkon. Just looked at your victory date. Aaaargh! 4-5 turns before me! I tell you, if you win the fastest spaceship award, I'm never going to declare war on anyone ever again!

Congrats all!
Dhoomstriker,, Sorry))).

No worries, Jeffa. You played a great game and someone's got to take the Award--fastest Diplo in this case. I'm glad to see that I still get the full 100.00 points in the Speed ranking table for tying your fastest Diplo date.

I just looked at your uploaded Saved game. From my quick inspection, it appears that you had a great early build of the United Nations (you built yours in 1547 AD while it took me until 1619 AD to build mine), but you struggled for a lot longer in order to get people to vote for you as the World Leader.

I wonder what Language you are playing the game in, as most of the text in the Event Log appears as random ASCII characters for me. Does anyone know how to view the Event Log for a game played in a non-English Language? Would I simply need to install the appropriate language pack for my Operating System?

Also, since we didn't have to upload Replay files for this game, I can't check out your Replay. I do not think that I can generate a Replay for your game (or anyone's Victory-achieved Saved game, for that matter).

Does anyone know the scoop on why we've stopped uploading Replay files? Do the benefits (I'm assuming that they are faster submitting time for games and less server storage space used) outweigh the costs of not being able to review the Replays of games? Perhaps not enough people download the Replay files or perhaps there actually is a way to generate one from the Victory-achieved Saved games?

... maybe due to the game being a bit harder?

The game was hard, no doubt. The lousy land we had at the start was difficult to deal with.

As usual I am very happy of being part of this event, and I appreciate the efforts of the staff, the winners and the spoiler-writers.:goodjob:

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

I love the way that can be read in two different ways, that give almost the exact opposite meaning.

Let the participants of this game notice and bear witness to the oath given by DynamicSpirit. Let these words bind him to the end of days. :deal:

Looks innocent. Gosh, did I write that? Wow, I must've been ill or summat which I'm sure means it doesn't count. Hmmmm. Goes and consults law book. Well that was written in Dec 2007, so I guess it applies to any game turn with a year of 2008 and later in future GOTMs. It's gonna be mighty hard to avoid any post-2008 wars, but I'll do my best. ;)

Seriously, well done, congratulations   . Mutter mutter. :mischief: And to SpockFederation for also nearly taking the fastest spaceship. Maybe no wars isn't a bad idea - seems to have served you pretty well in this game. Just you wait for the next GOTMs mate...

It looks to me like Russian. The odd characters are cyrillic, so may need to have the cyrillic character set installed. Also, IE tries to auto-detect the language, and therefore the encoding, and might have got confused because most of the text on that page is still in English. If you're viewing in IE, go to the Page menu (in IE7), select Encoding > More > Cyrillic (Windows) and you should then either be able to see the text or you'll be told to install the relevent language pack. If you don't speak Russian, you can run the text through the Babelfish translator at http://babelfish.altavista.com/tr. (That's how I figured it was probably Russian - running it through Russian-to-English was giving vaguely sensible results).

AlanH posted about it in one of the other threads, though I forget where. Basically, all the information from the replay is in the savegame file anyway, and people making mistakes uploading is very common, so it was desirable to simplify the upload process. Obviously it's not so good from the POV that you can no longer play the replay, though I think Alan hinted he was working on that anyway.

Yeaaaah! First award for me! Well, I have to admit it´s not so hard to win the cow if you really want it but anyway I´m happy. First step is made and now I will pick another award which I will concentrate on.

Congrats to all other winners!

I am very disappointed in the rejection email I received for my game submission. I had many game crashes and posted a question on what to do to the forum, here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=6237537&postcount=80

I was told by an Admin to start at the last autosave and try to play as close as possible, which I did. I ended up submitting a space LOSS and coming in 3rd. After 30+ hours of gameplay I find that my game was rejected!?! This is very disappointing.

8th place in score for me? I'll take it.

Gratz to the winners and another big thank you to the staff!

ainwood-

I submitted a game with a Cultural Victory in 19XX AD. I was wondering if it was rejected or if i perhaps dreamed submitting it. Anything you might know and be willing to share would be appreciated.

Thanks,
