GOTM 51 Spoiler

Reading all of these early conquests makes my game seem woefully inadequate - conquest BC! Incredible! :twitch:
I can see now how you've done it, but even going back now and replaying the game I get to the point where I should be sending out invasion fleets and I just keep thinking, just a few more cities, just a few more cities... and the fleets end up not getting built and I find I'm playing a long term game again :wallbash:

Still, I don't think I've done too badly for my first GOTM. Ended in 1545 with a 1470 score (88%).
Probably the quickest game I've ever played, and certainly one of the lowest scoring, but I was trying this new fangled idea :mischief: of early conquest and realising I'll just have to come to terms with being a long term player. :coffee:

I messed myself up with the saving rules. I read the GOTM screen but I guess it didn't register that there would be only 3 enemies and no restarts. I whacked the last Viking city and didn't save beforehand. I was thinking, "well I have a long search and destroy to finish the game" and the thing starts the guillitine showing I conquered the world. I send Duke an apology, I don't know if I am going to be allowed to submit. Not that I really did that good, but I was really excited to get in on the game. I already downloaded 52 and no more screwups this time. I actually thought the Babylonians were too easy to kill. They had ONE catapult defending their capital. Is this a new stratagy or what? "Hey, let's let the enemy have our capital for nothing, it will confuse them so much they just sit there." Well it didn't work. Crushed them with 6 knights a horseman and a phalanx. I think I did it without loosing anyone too because I had a big army sitting around with nothing left to do on that landmass.
The Vikings actually put up a fight. Overall I enjoyed crushing everyone with knights, just wish I didn't mess up on the saves.

I didn't even know that, I sent my save game from after I conquered tha last city too :(
But how am I supposed to know will I win the fight or not (IIRC, the last city I destroyed was size one, so I couldn't save before marching in...)

Marsden and Grga - Some minor mistakes in saving games might be forgiven, so I'd go ahead and submit what I could. Did you have the autosave feature on ? If so, maybe you can still include the position at the start of your last turn.

I tried the autosave but it was weird since it was like from 10 turns ago. Most weird of all was that when I loaded it and ended the turn, it said I won, but there were still enemy cities
Anyways, I sent the save as it was, and I hope they can retreive the info they need from it...

Grga - This bug has happened to me, too. If the machine decides you have won, nothing can change its mind. Even if you quit and load a completely different game, it will still give you the guillotine routine. But if you just try again, it will let you play.

OH, too bad I didn't know this earlier as I started playing the new GOTM and now my autosaves are lost... Ah well... Thx for the info.
