GOTM and QSC Submission Process AND STATUS

If we do submit a zip file rather than a save, do we need to be careful what we name the sav inside the zip file, or is this renamed too?

If the internal save file name does matter, should we use the "name_game_version.sav", or the old "name_year.sav", or is either ok?

Looking at the submission form for QSC, it appears the timeline and sav file should not be put in the same zip. Is this correct?

I believe Cracker already addressed this point earlier in the thread:
Actually, I should probably make the statement more strongly than Aeson did and that is only because files without member names built in can be a disaster. Even if your name is on the zip fodler or if we have the auto uploader rename the files to include your member name we still need you to personally take responsiblilty to make sure that you member name is the first part of any submitted file name.

I just took the easy way and submitted the .sav and .txt as separate files using the form, hopefully correctly named. Since there's a separate upload selection for each file, I'm not sure why you would want to submit a zip file at all unless you have more than one .sav to upload for some reason.

Well, if you're on a slow dialup connection, the zip might be a little faster. Very little unless you happen to be submitting a renamed autosave, since manual saves are compressed, but still some improvement. ;) If you have an uncompressed save, then it will be 3-4 times faster zipped. ;)

BTW I like the new submission process a lot better than the old one. It's especially nice that the list of received files is updated automatically. Kudos to the staff! :worship: :worship:

I submitted my .sav file and timeline a while ago but did not rename the .sav file because the upload screen said it would be renamed automatically.
Should I submit again with a properly named file or just trust my luck???

(Sorry for that. It's my first GOTM and I am still a bit confused.)

Amen brother!

Still was a little dissapointed with the Calculator marking me down a thousand points though :(

Well I bettered my last score (hopefully) :D

@ Aeson
I actually meant that I submitted QSC21, not the finished GOTM21.
But you are right, my name is not on the QSC list either.
On the submission form I put my member name in and did not use a different one either. My timeline file has also my name and game version. Only the .sav was not renamed.

When is the cut off date for submission??
I wonder whether I should just send it through again?

Aeson, thanks an awful lot.
I re-submitted and it worked now like a charm.

It was really my fault because I think I tried to send over the timeline as .doc originally and must have missed the error message.
I have to pay more attention to detail in future, I guess.

I do not see my name on the list.

I submitted my QSC file on July 18th by e-mail as the same as last month. Is it OK, or do I need to resubmit via web page?

Thanks.

We got it Pigumon and will get things synched up here real soon.

I have several other's by the email route as well.

Hey, I just submitted and it works great!

One question though: Why do most of the submissions have 0000-00-00 listed as the date they were submitted?

@darkness: It looks like something was fixed at the 22th and all earlier submissions do not have a valid date. It looks like a small 'kinderziekte' to me. (I don't know what the english phrase is but you'll understand... ;) It literally means childrens' disease.)

I don't know if it's the right thread to ask this, but it deals with submissions anyway, and BTW this thread is STICKY !!

I've not been able to play this GOTM 21 so far (as my current sig says), because I own a French version. I may be able to get US version very soon now (I hope today), and I'd like to know if I could submit my QSC this week-end, and if it could count. I know the QSC submission is closed on the 20th of each month, but I feel like a special case here, and cracker may know how I feel... Could you do something special for me, as it was not my fault ? BTW I tried to act as quick as I could to be able to play GOTM 21 before July 31st, and now I'd like to know if I could kinda be rewarded (maybe too strong word) for this "effort"... ... ...

Thanks for the answer. I could e-mail you my QSC if it causes too much problem... I hope you REALLY could do something for me, as I think I'm the only one here with this problem.

I guess the answer is NO... Sorry for having spamming this thread. I'm not even sure to submit my entire game... :(
