Is there any way to play GOTM with just the conquests disc? I can't find my civ3 or PTW cds and I can't get GOTM to work. This is my first time ever trying to play GOTM.

I installed the GOTM 25 file and it asked me to verify if i had played GOTM 24 and had it working or whatever. I had no choice to click yes because GOTM 24 files won't work. I think I need GOTM 24's files for 25's to work so I can play 29 ... I think :P I only seen a quick mention to 25 in the readme.txt that came with 29. I checked GOTM's website and maybe i'm blind but I can't find anywhere that just simply tells me what files I need and where to get em.

Hope somebody can help. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, and welcome to the GOTM! :)

You can play with the C3C cd: just make sure that you are not launching the Conquests executable, as that is not supported by the GOTM.

You will need to install a number of additional features in any case: a comprehensive list is in in the reference thread, stickied on top of this page ;)

If you have any problems with installing or downloading, it will be better to directly PM a staff member rather than posting in the forum.

Happy playing and have fun with the GOTM! :D

Alright ... Thanks for the help. I tried some more stuff and it still won't start up ... i'll PM you the details.

I understand from Karasu that you've installed all the other gamepacks, and still can't get it to work? It seems that we don't yet have an assured way of setting the GOTM under the conquests version of PTW. :hmm:

What you could do is to set it up under the Civ3 version for now (you will need to download and install the Civ 3 add-on packs), whilst we work on trying to sort out what is different in the conquests PTW version.

I've just reformatted my hard-drive, so might be an opportune time for me to do some research. :)

I've seen some posts that indicate that, if you installed Conquests over the top of PTW then PTW still requires the original PTW CD to run. Presumably the registry entry for PTW is not overwritten by the Conquests install.

Maybe you need to uninstall PTW (and Civ3 1.29) first, then install Conquests clean? This is pure guesswork, as I don't have any of these products :D

That is correct, if you install C3C over an existing PTW installation, PTW still looks for the original PTW CD. If you do a clean install (Vanilla Civ, then C3C), the PTW icon is set up, and will run using the C3C CD. I have two computers at home, one set up each way, and haven't had any trouble. Good luck!
