This time we'll try a different approach to the game.

The map is 60% land (rest up to discussion)

We can only build 4 cities during ancient age, then 4 more while we're in Middle ages and so forth. We can only own 4 cities per age, if we settle them ourselves or conquer them is up to us. All in all we can only gain 16 cities by IA.

We are going for space, just to make it a bit more difficult. I've played a few 5CC games now on Deity and I think we will be pretty backwards for a while in this game.

The idea of 4 x 4 is that we can build an army with 4 cities and a FP with 8 cities.

I'm even thinking making this an Archipelago, with some barbs, only to kick the butt of my fellow team-members.

So let's discuss the settings.

Players: (Not roster-order) But I usually start :)

gozpel
grahamiam
Kaiser Berger
Sir Bugsy
Bede
CarlosMM -> confirm please

checking in :wavey:

or being your usual PITA :D actually, 60% arch maps are, imho, the most interesting, randomly generated maps you can get.

age before beauty :D

Alright, any preferences on what civ we should play?

I was thinking Zulu for a change. But we might want some seafaring civ?

i haven't played the vikings in a very long time. however, those traits may match up too well for your liking (mil and sea).

Zulu would certainly be a challenge. Of course, we can always just hit the magic random civ button and blame the game if we do poorly

Ahh, the Vikings! My ancestors blood in my veins. :)

Well, we can wait with the decision until wqe have a full team. I better PM Bede and Carlos so see if they are interested.

Checking in.

Partial to the Vikings myself, the "broadaxe beakerheads".

Or I might not PM Bede as he sneaks in while I'm posting

grahamiam, you've been in contact with Carlos, what's he up to?

Anyhow, we have a team and can start being serious.

Ok, Bede and grahamiam likes the Vikings, and it's a good choice. I don't mind having something going for us, the challenge will be great anyways.

And pearls before swine....:D

So who wants to gen a start? Island map with the Vikings and some barbarians for troop training...normal climate, or wet and temperate, not arid, please.

I'll be busy today, so you can start this Bede. :) Only because you asked.
Hmm, you can generate 3 starts and we vote?

Roster:

Bede
Sir Bugsy
Kaiser Berger
grahamiam
gozpel
Carlos?

Coming up....later

:salute: Commander Bugs reporting for duty.

Bede is a great map generator. I like the Vikes :viking: I really like the 60% 'pelago idea as well.

no idea, i think he got a little too rowdy in one of those "other" sections @ CFC. i emailed him tonight but won't hear anything till tomorrow due to our timezone differences.

It can't be a coincidence that the time I come back to SG's is the same time that there is not one, but two new gozpel games starting. Unfortunately, I doubt I could handle your other variant at deity (which I can only beat under the best of circumstances) and this roster seems to be full, but I shall lurk and enjoy these challenging variants as I always do

I think the two cows counteract the tundra on start 2. That would be my first choice. The food will be important. Pop=power.

Start 3 is nice, but not as good as two. The BGs in one are not as good.

Bugs votes for 2.

Bugsy: I think that is flood plains, not tundra. If you look closely you can see the green-ish border on along the river

Flood plains... :hmm: Where in the world is that one located Brother bede?
