Goz6 - 4 x 4

Looking good, I'm happy with all those workers :) Some more irrigation/mines/roads and then a colony on the horses. Trimming party? :lol:

Got it and play tomorrow.

American and Ottomans are the only 2 on our continent and i was thinking that maybe we could take advandage of some strife and clean them out :)

I understood that, I just liked the phrase :)

You warmongers talk over this humble builder's head.

Pre-turn - Move the warrior from Copenhagen to Trondheim, so we can lower luxtax next turn.
Trondheim will grow in 2 turns, so the conscript from Reijkavik will also join the capitol as MP.

Check diplo and press enter.

1725bc - A worker on to forest by Reikjavik to chop for the barracks.

1700bc - Ottomans kick out our warrior.

So much for the MP-idea, a barb shows his ugly face near Copenhagen, so warrior moves back.

Luxes still 10% though.

Caesar has 50g, so he get Myst for that.

1675bc - Ottomans starts ToA.

Barbgalley sink a curragh.

Trondheim barracks -> archer.
Bergen archer -> archer.

Egypt knows Maths.

I decide to go and get those horses and swap the archer in Trondheim to settler, as pre-build for horseman.

1650bc - Ottomans completes Colossus.

Great, a couple of civs knows Writing, so I buy it from Aztecs for 264g.
Buy Maths from Egypt for Writing and 147g.

Maya knows MapMaking, but I can't squeeze that out of them right yet. Maths, 11 gpt and 124g was only doubtful.

Maths and Writing to Ottomans for Poly and 14g.
Maths and Poly to Maya for MapMaking 5gpt and 151g! :bounce:
Poly to Egypt for 204g.
Poly and Maths to Aztecs for 299g.
Maths to Inca for 122g.

Hmm, I think we won't get Philo first if we research CoL, so full pace on Philo it is, due in 10 turns. We should get Lit or Monarchy if we get the free tech.

With 900g in the kitty, I decide to establish some embassies. If for nothing else, to keep the AI happy and to get rid of some of that tempting gold.

Embassies with all civs for 430g, the only noteworthy thing is Mayan capitol Chichen Itza, at pop 8 and owning Pyramids. They are at war with Aztecs.

America and Ottomans are still at war.

1625bc - Maya starts ToA and SoZ! That's a bit greedy.

Copenhagen archer -> archer. Send him barbhunting.

1600bc - Trondheim is pop 7 and gets a scientist, which cut one turn on research.

We have a horse-colony and all unit building towns switch to horsemen.

Archer kill barb and promotes to elite.

1575bc - Trondheim horse -> horse.

1550bc - Aztecs demands Mapmaking, I tell them to get lost and we are at war.

1525bc - Horse kills barb.

Maya knows CoL! :wow:

1500bc - Reykjavik barracks -> horse.

I sent workers to do some chopping, I think we want culture soon. Change the builds to what you think is best.

Philo is due in 3 turns, go to the big picture and trade for CoL when we learn it and we might get Republic for free?

We can get Inca to join us against Aztecs for Poly.

goz6-map.jpg

We're looking pretty good. I think you're right on the Big Picture thing. If we can get CoL before selecting our next tech and exiting from the screen, we should be abould to pull off a back door Republic gambit. Quite sneaky. Although, this is a moot point, as we all know Philo is going to be discovered by every known civ in 2 turns anyway :lol:

skip carlos, he's had a hard drive failure. right now, he's eating chocolate and punching an IT guy :lol: i will remind him about this once he sends our pbem game to me.

Got it.

Back door Republic.....what have we got for trade bait?

Organize some facial depilation for Abe and Ozzie?

Ok, gents. I'm feeling a little like the school bus chasing dog that finally caught it.....

Backed right into Republic, and even got back what it cost, though I had to whore almost every tech we had to do it....

Now what do I do with it?

Ummm....Revolt? :lol:

Kidding aside, I suppose we have to evaluate the tech situation and see where/when we want to trade it. Republic at monopoly should rake in some good deals from the Deity AI.

Jacobins to Trondheim....

Here's the deal: In order to accumulate what Smoke wanted for CoL I pretty much stripped the other guys of cash, and he then took everything plus Philo for CoL.

In order to not go broke I had to sell Republic right back to him for what we paid, so now he's broke and so is everybody else, and they are down Philo and CoL....

Oh, fogot to mention, after the deal with Smoke, Abe came calling demanding writing, so now we are at war with Lincoln....with healthy horses on his border...

So, revolt now, or wait till we have knocked Abe back?

I generally come from the school that says revolting ASAP is best. Abe has a long way to come, so I would suppose it would be a while until we heard anything from him. And, with horses in place, it seems we can lay the smack upon some of his frontier cities.

Revolting developments. Alles in ordnung, finish and post tonight.

And so it goes:

1500BC-1425Bc
Setting up for Republic by selling what we know to everybody to raise money for Code of Laws.

In 1450 we learn Philosphy and the deal comes off without a hitch. Maya want Philosophy and our entire economy for CoL but I'll get it all back when I trade him Republic. Only hitch is that the rest of the world is broke and stupid.
Right now we are 7gpt to the good in our deals with Maya.

In 1425 send the sans-culottes to Trondheim and the tumbrils roll. Revolution begins and will last 100 years (4 turns).

No one will riot or starve....

America demands writing and when I refuse declares war.

In 1375 Maya build SoZ.

In 1350 we are the Viking Republic....

Inca complete Colussus.

Egypt building ToA

In 1275 the world economy has improved to the point that Philosophy can be sold around, first to the Romans for 75g, then to Egypt for 42.

By 1250 we have most of the gold in the world and all known techs. We are researching Currency post haste due in 9 at -31. Have not been prosecuting the American war as their forces are concentrating on the Turks and their tundra villes aren't worth the trouble of razing. There is a force of horsemen hanging out in the tundra in neutral territory waiting for American archers to show their faces heading our way.

Abe won't talk, Monte will but there's no point. The MesoAmericans are embroiled in intertribal warfare and nobody else knows anybody else besides Abe and Osman and they are at war.

There appears to be no iron on our island.

No culture started as I saw no need at this point. Cities are still producing horsemen.

Saw no need for pictures as not muh has changed other than we are getting fatter and richer.

Welcome back Carlos, your spot was reserved. :)

Nicely done Bede.
Looks like Bugsy can start some fun stuff. Remember we have to raze the cities until we get into next age. But I don't mind some slaves.

Roster:

Bede -> Just played
Sir Bugsy -> UP
Kaiser Berger -> On deck
grahamiam

Pre-flight – 1250 BC – The world is either poor, stupid or both. Nothing to trade. Everything else is looking good. We’re at war with Azteca and America, but we are in good shape.

IBT – Beowulf kills a Yank warrior before being shot in the back by an archer.
Trondheim: horse=>horse

1. 1225 BC – Kill a archer and a spear.

IBT – A Yank archer and spear sally forth.
Rome begins MoM.

2. 1200 BC – @ San Francisco – the two defending spears are killed, the city autorazes and we collect no money. Retreat from a spear. Science can come down 10%.

IBT – Aztecs and Maya sign a treaty.

3. 1175 BC – Kill two spears. Abe will give us a city for peace. The Maya have construction.

IBT – Trondheim: horse=>horse (2 turns now)
Reykjavik: horse=>archer
Copenhagen: horse=>horse
Mayans complete ToA and become a major culture monster.
Egypt cascades to the MoM.

4. 1150 BC – Science down another 10%. Healing.

IBT – Aztecs and Inca sign a treaty.
Ottomans complete HG.

5. 1125 BC – March on Boston. Demand that Johnny Damon be handed over. Red Sox nation thumbs their nose at us.

IBT – Trondheim: horse=>horse
Bergen: horse=> temple (market pre-build)

6. 1100 BC - @ Boston – Kill a spear, lose a horse.

IBT – Our curragh is sunk by a barb galley.

7. 1075 BC - @ Boston – lose a horse and retreat another as Red Sox Nation gets tough.
Kill an archer. Science down another 10%.

IBT – Trondheim: horse=>temple (market pre-build)

8. 1050 BC – Kill a spear at Boston, but they just built another.

IBT – Retreat from an archer.
Reykjavik: archer=>horse
Copenhagen: horse=>archer

9. 1025 BC – Science down another 10%. Kill the archer.

IBT – Currency comes in. Science to zero.

10. 1000 BC – Swap the temples over to markets.

After Action – We can sell currency to Smoke for Construction and all his cash. That would put us into the MA. Where do we want to build our next four cities? Maybe on that landmass to our north.

I started building a road to the front. We probably need to start building lots of galleys and archers. I can taste some Berserk attacks coming on.

Good job.

I think we should get us into next age and take a couple of American cities, if we can. We can always abandon them later if we find another spot to put a second core. If we clean out the opponents on our island now, we can build a nice second core in the ameri-turks lands.

At least we will have the "4 more towns" in play, so the option to go N as Bugs mention is also an idea to think about.
