Goz6 - 4 x 4

OK, I have it. It sounds like you're figgerin' we need to destroy the UN, or at least deadlock the vote.

It certainly is a different kettle of fish.

Seems to me that the UN vote is the only thing between us and AlphaC.

Maya have no uranium and their only hope of getting any is from Rome. and if I remember the map it is buried deep on that humoungous island of Julie's.

Pre-flight – The UN was built in 1794, so we're due for a vote every forty years (20 turns, but 40 years at the moment) or the next time should be in 1834. With five civs, Smoke will need three votes to win. We know he won’t get one from us or Julie. Cleo and Sapa may vote for him though. Cleo most certainly since they are allies. Sapa won’t speak with us at the moment.

So it appears the way to keep Sapa for voting for Smoke is have the two fighting one another. One way to do that is to get him on our side. Another way is have Smoke on our side. I have five turns, so We’ll see what we can do. I don’t think we need to destroy the UN to win though.

We have seven techs to learn.

IBT – Palace expands. You guys are like me, you usually don’t mess around with that thing. Four new pieces.

1. 1826 – Let’s see if we can expand our knowledge. I know the Mayans have miniaturization, so I swipe it carefully. We are now at tech parity with the Mayans. Six techs to learn.

IBT – Inca and Rome sign a treaty. So now maybe Sapa will vote for Julie. Then the Mayans sign Cleo into an alliance against us. We lose our supply of furs. We complete the SS Engine. We also lose our supply of gems and rubber.

2. 1828 – In order to get rubber and gems, I sell miniaturization to Julie for those resources, a few worthless techs and all the money in his purse – 7G.

I kill three Incan units with naval artillery and bombers. Sapa still won’t talk. Smoke will. That would tick Cleo off. Smoke also has ecology now. I sign a treaty with Smoke and pay him 60G for ruining his reputation.

IBT – The Mayans add a SS part.

3. 1830 – The vote is getting close, and I’m not positive Sapa and Cleo won’t vote for Smoke. Smoke wants uranium for an MA. I talk him into it for some luxuries and 17gpt. No diplo win for Smoke.

4. 1832 – Harrass the Incas some more.

IBT – Mayans add a second SS part.

5. 1834 – More harassment

IBT – Rome and Maya sign a treaty

6. 1836 – I steal Ecology from the Mayans. We’re back at tech parity.

IBT – Egypt and Rome sign a treaty. Maya add a third SS part.

7. 1838 - Cleo will talk to us now that I sent he fleet of frigates to Davy Jones’ locker. We gives us furs, 24g, 9gpt for peace.

IBT – Mayans build the Internet. We lose our supply of coal and iron.

8. 1840 – Mayans now have Synth Fibers.
9. 1842 – The Incas are down to three cities. The Mayans have captured one. It the Incas are gone, that certainly eliminates any diplo win.

IBT – We complete the Manhattan Project.

10. 1844 – The Incas are down to two cities. Bomb the few improved tiles they have.

After Action - Sapa will probably be gone within a turn or two. We’ll have enough for a careful steal in another turn or two. I don’t think we’ll see another UN vote. We have five techs left to acquire. The best we can do researching is 17 turns. Stealing is better.

Preturn- We look good.

T1 1846

Whoa, workers are automated. Looks like Shift-A, at this point thats just fine by me.

T2 1848

Our spy with the Maya was captured during the IT. I easily replant it.

T3 1850

We carefully take Synthetic Fibers. They now have Superconductor as well.

T4 1852

Inca are now dead.

T6 1856

We complete Storage/Supply.

T7 1858

Maya has declared on the Romans. We fail on a steal attempt, but don't lose the spy.

T8 1860

Maya now have the Laser.

T10 1864

We steal Superconductor from the Maya.

Summary

The Maya managed to make a successful attack on Rome and have captured several cities. We now need only three more techs to win this one. We can steal the laser soon, and hopefully the others will be research by the Maya in short order.

With the Inca dead, the Mayans can't win by diplo.

I did the shift-A on the workers to clean up the polution. I just get tired of hitting the clean up button fifty times a turn.

We may want to position some transports in our NE so in case things get dicey with the Mayans and their SS, we can land and march on Chichen Itza.

Have fun G-man. You may be able to wrap this up with a few well planned pre-builds.

Preflight check: Will switch Oslo to Palace as a prebuild in case Maya get Satillites

1892AD: Egypt builds SS Docking Bay

1896AD: Mayan have researched Genetics

1904AD: Mayan have researched Advanced Flight. Wonder if they’ll go for Ironclads next

I wanted to finish this, but the AI is not cooperating and I’m out of time tonight. During these turns, I had nothing better to do, so I assembled a landing party to take Teno in 1T. However, it needs at least 2 transports (12) marines. I also build 1 MA army, another empty army is due next turn. We have almost 7600g and make about 1000gpt.

Rome and Mayan are still at war.

Bede's UP and I really hope the Mayans can finish Satillites during his turn.

Got it. Try to finish tonight....

It Takes a Thief

Things are pretty uneventful for quite some time. No UN vote is held in 1914 but no one learns Satellites till 1916.

Manuel bumbles the first steal attempt but escapes then Smoke hangs him by his entrails after the second. So now we are at war with the Maya. After bombing his oil source, losing two bombers, the fleet moves ot of range his coast to join up with the Marine landing force.

But wait, Guido in Rome reports that Julius has learned how to lob round balls above the atmosphere but instead of naked thievery I can trade stuff for it, and do.

All my pre-builds had filled in 1914 but Manufacturing Plants were started instead as they cost exactly what the last part does. So once the trade is done swap New York's plant to the SS part and then hit the go button.

Maya and Rome fight some more naval battles,

then this. Wrong technology, Smokie!

the spaceship is finished....

Eat my rocket fuel, Cleo. Watch my smoke, Smoke. Have fun with your navy, Julie

:goodjob: Interesting game. Easy start, difficult mid-game, cruise for an end game.

@Bugs, if this game show in your personal HoF you will note that it scores slightly lower than Bede02. :D

Pre-launch is attached.

wow, nice game :) and very nice finish:D

(just when things have normalized here and I can start thinking SGs again :()

@ Bede - You never posted the final pre-defeat save on Bede2 so I don't have it on my HOF. If you still have it, please e-mail it to me. I need to have that one up there.
