GP emergence chances...

I found this odd and rather frustrating.

I built the Great Lighthouse in my capital which was also the holy city. I ran 2 priests from 2 temples and later added the Apostolic Palace there.

I got 3 great merchants. :rolleyes: Ok, so the first time was fine. I had no priests and no AP. But the 2nd and 3rd time also? I had like 60% and 70% for prophets in those subsequent emergences.

Something's wrong there.
 
I read in one of the ALC games, can't remember which but apparently a similar thing happened where you run like a million artists and have 90% chance for them and yet prophets keep appearing because there's a wonder that gives prophets points. This is wrong.
 
Bad luck...
'Every time' I have 60%+ for a prophets, and I want something else, I get prophet...
 
Just take two 10-sided dice (=one 100-sided dice) and make a roll each time a GP is generated.
I can tell you: I play some table board games using two 10-sided dice, and it is absolutely possible that you roll 90+ three times in a row (of course always when you don't need it).
Thats why people call it "random"

Next turn you will have more luck ... just ..one ..more ..turn ;)
 
Great Prophets *do* have a strong tendency to appear, the little bastards :D If you can't really make something useful with them you might as well just save them to start a Golden Age. :P
 
Where do you find the percentage chance for which GP could spawn?
 
You can find it by putting your mouse cursor above the Great People Points generation bar. In the lower right section of the city screen (below specialists).
