Why GPU Texture Decode is not available to me (it's visible, but grayed out, cannot select)

I have only Vanilla CiV. GPU GTX 470 (latest drv ver 306.97).

Why GPU Texture Decode is not available to me (it's visible, but grayed out, cannot select)

I have only Vanilla CiV. GPU GTX 470 (latest drv ver 306.97).

This only affects leader scenes for you (the speed that they display when they initially come up). This option basically determines if a texture is decoded on the GPU of the CPU. If a particular type of video card takes too long to decode a texture, it disables this option so that your driver does not reset, causing your game to go dark. Fr most users, the difference isn't noticeable.
