Plus they're super cheap. Also, the Dutch are seafaring so you get farther away from the AI for a while, and agri is good. I'd suggest the Dutch.

That IS what is blocked me. I feel the odds of beating Monarch with 31 civs on our continent is 0%. I won't play if I don't feel I at least have a chance to win...

Ok, I will make the switch to continents and count you in. You may very well be correct. It is hard for me to judge how hard this game will be.

240x240 at 70% water gives us 544 land squares per civ. This is slightly higher than the 500 squares per civ you get on a standard map with 60% water (and 8 civs), but less than the 640 squares per civ you would get on a huge map with 60% water.

We could go to 250 x 250 with 70% water. Anyone prefer that? it would be 614 land squares per civ.

I will start this game up soonish.
