Graphical error

Almost everytime I start Civ 4 and play it for a few minutes I get lots of coloured squares across the screen, as if my graphics card was overheating, which I doubt it is, nothing in my comp goes over 50 even in the hottest of weather. Only thing that fixes it is a reboot. Thoughoughly annoying. Ideas?
AMD 3500+ 2.2ghz
1024mb RAM
Radeon X800XL Pro 256mb

Check out the thread "Video Problems." There are a couple suggestions that you can try. It didn't work for me though.
