Graphical problems after the last patch.

I only get the grey on first load/sight of that area now, so much better than it was.

Try to move around to back and then back to the initial area. Grey texture will be back again, I tried it myself.

No, it stays away for me now but it didn't before the patch.

I can confirm the black and red dots graphic problem is fixed. Weird....

I have two GeForce GTX 460's and have had the black squares (and gray tiles when zooming in & out) for a long time when I run in SLI mode. It had been a while since I last tested this and this past week I tried again and see it has been fixed. I am not sure if nVidia's 306.97 (most likely) driver fixed this or one of the recent patches for Civilization. Now the only issue is if I run with a resolution of 5760x1080 (triple monitors) causes the black squares (and gray tiles). Setting the resolution to 1920x1080 (with nVidia Surround enabled) resolves this, so it appears this is getting close to being fixed.

I am curious if anyone with AMD's Eyefinity is having a similar issue or if someone else running a triple monitor setup with NVidia's Surround is still having this issue. I have seen many postings over the past year or two where others have had this issue but it seems like those of us with 460s are more common. Overclocking the CPU, lowering graphic settings, DX9, etc. do not make a difference. And I believe we (nVidia users) still have the famous leader screen issue (although I no longer have a save game to test with).

I have not tried a small map, but do not believe it will make much (if any difference) and just wondered if others running current drivers (or beta) are still seeing issues with triple monitors.

I can understand why you would merge this, but disagree that it is the same issue. My only issues are in 5760x1080. I have no other graphical issues like the previous posts. But I am also current on fixes and drivers (sans beta).

Hey, not sure if I should have added this to one of the other threads (merge this if so). I have been getting the slow loading grey textures as others, but also getting constant blue screen crashes as well.

so it seems that only Nvidia graphics cards are affected by this after the latest patch, yeah? Anyone without a Nvidia card still having this problems?

I pulled down the latest beta drivers for nVidia but ran out time to test. My opinion is this is an nVidia issue not a Civ V issue (which may not be what others agree with). The leader screen issue used to work on nVidia cards but you need to use an old driver. Also, in my case SLI now works and it had not for well over a year. But I also try to stay current on nVidia drivers due to other games I play.

I think you may be right. Searching around the net, others are reporting many BSOD problems with other games using nVidia cards and techie forums have been complaining about their W7 drivers. I might also try out the beta driver, as it is with the current constant crashing becomes too annoying.

For me, the crashes started happening mostly when clicking "Next Turn", but it has become more random than that now (mid-turn etc) so I wasn't sure at first if it was a graphic issue necessarily. Others reporting similar errors on other games does make it sound like a nVidia driver issue though.

Edit: Browsing nVidia forum, the word on the street is that rolling back to legacy driver 301.42 is the one to use for Civ 5- going to test it today.

Update: Played with 301.42 for a bit and blue screen crash. Didn't have this problem before the hotfix update, so maybe it's not the driver?

Hey, I found out what my crashing problem was... cpu was overheating. I still get the grey textures upon loading a game, but have successfully played today without a crash. My case has 3-speed fans that were all set to low (quiet) settings and I cranked them up to high. I'm pretty sure it wasn't my gpu because I monitored that first with a program and the temp was fine, but still crashed last night. Basically, I wasn't getting a traditional BSOD- just my monitor has a blue screen when my computer shuts off.

Hopefully didn't damage my cpu too much lol.

For me the patch has done nothing except introduce a new bug where the game crashes on close. The grey textures and low fps problems still remain...
