Graphics/Sound Problems? - Please post your DX Logs.

ok i downloaded the patch and the fog of war effect is gone plus i cann see the character animations properly. unfortunately the game is damn slow. anybody can help me out please, its driving me damn crazy

Game locks and crashes to desktop after 30 or so turns. Seems it cant handle all the units around about then?? Can only play 1 or 2 turns at a time after that before it crashes/computer locks up requiring one finger five second salute!!

Thanks to the organisers of this site for offering us space to discuss problems here... seems the discussion is a bit one sided atm??

Please help someone.. am not ready to give up on this potentially great game yet!

Well as i can see there is no awnsers to most of these problems but im posting in hope that there will be some time in the far and distant future.....

Im able to play the game fine in single player with of course some stuttering and glitchy wonder videos,but when i go to play multiplayer im in the game for a few minutes and the graphics get corrupted and the game crashes my comp locks up and i have to do a hard reboot!


I have all the latest driver and rolled some of them back to see if this would work it did not.
I then reinstalled the game it didnt work.Then I waited for the patch which to my amazment fixed nothing either.I have more then enough meet system recommendations.

AMD/FX 3700+
Nividia 6800Gt
2Gigs of ram
400 watt PS
Hard drive is 80gig and only half full

So what is the problem and why have their been no responses from the tech people this is a tech fourm isnt it and is there any one that has the same problem been able to fix it yet or have at least a guess as to why it is doing this?

I just downloaded the latest video drivers that were released 3 days ago for the Nvidia Graphics Cards and my video problems all seem to have vanished. Thanks for posting that Thunderfall.

I downloaded the latest drivers for my SiSM661MX Sound Card, and well, nothing changed...see computer specs below the image.

I purchased the item and loaded up...all seems to work well, however, the characters do not have any face or body, just glasses and lips running around. no background when playing the game. Please help

I am experiencing the same problem that Tyrone is. However when I looked on here for the solution I could not find one. Is there a solution? This is very anoying! Please give me an solution or take the game back.

I also have issues with the intro movie. The video and music stutter every 1-2 seconds. I have tried turning hardware acceleration on and off for my sound card. No difference in performance.

I'm having the same issue as Eschatos...

As an aside...it blanks the screen and crashes in 10 minutes whether I'm playing the game or I start a game and walk away letting it sit idle.

Please, I need help! Like many people I can see the units and rivers but all of the terrian squares are black! I have installed the 1.52 patch and the latest drivers from the hp website. What can I do to get CIV IV to run?? Here are my computer specs:

Problems with the music jumping during the Wonders movies. A little annoying. Also when highlighting (for instance) a button or scroll bar, sections of the screen turn white (under on-screen icons, panels, etc), again a little annoying.

Freeze/Crash happens randomnly apparently. 5 minutes or an hour then my monitor looks like some kind of messed up test pattern and the computer locks. Did the same thing with 1.09 until Hark's patch. Then it no longer happened.

The problem I'm having is no ingame minimap, no interface menu, and no research bar turn display. I have the latest video drivers and patch 1.52. Note that everything was running fine with patch 1.09.

My CIV IV has problems with stuttering during movies. Also the characters in the diplomacy screen are all eyeballs and teeth, no faces? What do I need to do? Please help.

All the words on mine look like barcodes, The intro movie stutters, the terrain won't draw. I cant read anything, and its getting very confusing....

Ive done disk cleanup and disk defragmenting and that made it BETTER that what it was before.. lol

I am a huge civ fan but this is crap. After frigging with my PC all day today installing drivers, uninstalling patches, reinstalling game ect still freezes and get no input to monitor and the pc locks and needs a hard reboot.
