Conquests is a great add-on, but it has a few minor flaws:

1.) The beginning video is aweful. Play the world had a much better video. Not sure If it was from play the world or reg civ, but the last video was so much better.

2.) A lot of what is in this add-on is in PTW and on the civ fanatics website. They could have added more original content. Ofcourse, in C3C it is done much better and put all together.

3.) Still no cheat menu, similar to civ2 or even similar to powerbar. This baffles me. That is just plain stupid not to have added a cheat menu. The cheat menu has no effect on multiplayer games as it won't work during those games, so there is no reason not to have it added to the game.

4.) In order to change some variables such as volcanos and plagues, you need to set up a file in the editor. You should be able to just do this from the main screen while starting a new game.

Overall though, Conquests is a nice addition to the Civ experience and was worth the money.

1) I agree. But I don't care. :p

2) C3C adds MUCH more than PTW. I am glad I bought C3C. It adds enough content to make it worth the money for me.

3) I kind of agree here. But you can always use the editor to mess around if you really want to.

4) I guess I sort of agree here, but its not going to be a huge problem. Also, the editor is for just that - editing game values, unit stats, etc...

1 - Yep, it's way too short. The music is cool, though. PTW had a great opening movie, one of the best I've seen in any game.

2 - Not sure what you mean here. They didn't use any of the fan made stuff.

3 - I think I tried it once in Civ2, and it just wasn't very fun. You can use the debug mode for testing scenarios, which is good enough for me.

4 - Yes, that would have been nice. I'm not crazy about either.

Ditto the opening movie being short but look at what you are getting. C3C is a great addon. Never really was a big cheater myself so doesn't matter to me there is no cheat screens.

Although it is still early, I am having a blast. I couldn't say this about Civ3 until a year later so I know they did something right with C3C.

You know, what I was really hoping for, since those seem to be refering to particular Conquests in the game, was a final movie after beating a Conquest. But, eh, lord knows I didn't buy Civ for the breath-taking graphic content. :)

I think there is alot of new content, can't really see what you're talking about there...(see signature :) )

I could be wrong, but I'm not sure there is a high demand for a cheat menu, considering it comes with an editor.

This may have had something to do with the Multiplayer aspect of things. Not that things are balanced as they are now, but, come on, if you were the Civ that caught the plague or started next to Mount St. Helens, you'd probably be a little pissed.

Agree on the opening movie. Short and a little anti-climactic, but I've seen worse. Opening music is terrific.

Love the many new victory conditions you can play with along with game time constraints (number of turns, cultural percentage, etc.) Love the idea of the Elimination victory condition where if you lose just one city, yer out...

Very nice add-on well worth the $30.

I wan't my freakin' flamethrower unit! It's in the movie, where is it in the game?!? [plasma]

:D

That's a Combat Engineer. They're in the WWII in the Pacific Conquest. I'm not sure if they are available in the Epic game.

The flamethrowers aren't available in the epic game.

Anyway. I completely agree with the video and the thing w/ the volcanoes.

But besides these two, I think the C3C Icons look way too unprofessional. I don't know.

Other than that, it's a VERY satisfying expansion (could have introduced the ability to add new culture groups, though).

Umm... how many times do you watch the opening video anyway (on ANY game)? I watch it once or twice, then hit escape every time thereafter so I can get to the game. I would much rather have them spend time and resources building new units, buildings and wonders, plus add modding features than on wonder movies and intro videos.

HINT: try beating all the conquests, and then see what happens. :)

Agreed. After watching an opening movie once I don't look at it again until maybe several months later. That's just for fun to remember what the movie was like. But they have done a great job with all the content in C3C.

1) Haven't seen the movie yet  is released next Friday..but the PTW intro rockt. :)

2) et say thats a little extra ppl that bought PTW will have too, amongst sum..the units u can add.
