Civ3 vanilla, patched. Can someone explain to me why you get two units when a great leader is formed? You get the one with the cheesy name (Ghengis Kahn, etc) that can create an army and then you get to rename the original unit. What's the point of this 2nd unit? Just a pretty/customizable unit?

Thanks in advance! :goodjob:

The second unit is the original unit. The renaming thing is just a cool little feature.

EDIT: x-posted

Well, the great leader is formed by the original unit from battle. Like you said the great leader can build armies or hurry production in one city. The second unit is the original unit that created the leader. (the original unit doesn't dissapear)

Hope this helps :D

Well, yeah. *Elite units can't get you anymore Great Leaders, and I think they have a small retreat bonus advantage (if applicable) over regular Elites, so maybe it is just for distinguishing them.

Naming *Elite units is fun though! I call them Mr. Elite, Solid Snake, Grey Fox, or X Killer/ Anti-X where X is a city or particular unit.
