One of the main discussions in this forum is how the concept of associated wonders can avoid or complicate the inclusion of several civilizations. Some argue, and I agree, that this will result in many “wonders” that are not all that wonderful, since not every culture was historically a great builder. Personally, I really enjoy the variety that associated wonders bring, while at the same time I believe that not every civilization should be required to have one (after all, there are already civs in the game without a unique civilian unit). I’m a supporter of asymmetric design; I don’t think every civ needs to have all the exact same elements the game typically demands.

That said, I carried out a lot of research and decided to put together a large list of potential civilizations and their main candidates for associated wonders, meant to serve as a guide for those unsure of which wonder might suit a given civilization. I tried to cover as many civilizations as possible, from all parts of the world. For some, it was genuinely quite challenging, and I had to resort to entire cities, fairly unremarkable settlements, or relatively obscure buildings. In certain cases, such as the Mapuche, I couldn’t even come up with a plausible option.

Finally, every suggestion is welcome so I can improve the list by making new additions or adjustments.

I divided the civilizations by continents and eras: Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern.

I can't really be bothered to do the formatting, but this is what my list looks like:

Africa isn't complete yet. I'm still doing research on that one.

For the Cherokee I think possibly Sequoyah's Cabin could work.
The only potential problem is it's located in present-day Oklahoma, and not in the ancestral lands of the Cherokee.

I see Lord Lakely had the same thought as me.

Added Sequoyah's Cabin to Cherokee.

Does anyone have any ideas for Mapuche? I thought about linking them to the old Spanish fort of Tucapel, but I’m not sure it would be very appropriate. I also couldn’t find anything solid for the Nok, so I had to resort to using the entire city of Taruga. Strange as it may seem, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve had an entire city as a wonder.

Let's give it a try with some alternative options that I haven't seen proposed yet:

AMERICAS
INUIT: Inuksugalait
(also known as Inuksuk Point, a small peninsula with more than 100 inuksuit stone cairns, a symbol of Inuit culture to this day)
ARGENTINA: Casa Rosada (the official residence of the President of Argentina, well known for its characteristic baby pink color)
NAVAJO: Navajo Nation Council Chamber (this building is the center of government of the Navajo nation, and features a massive, beautiful mural of the history of the Navajo nation inside)

EAST ASIA
HEIAN JAPAN:
Itsukushima Shrine (a prominent Shinto shrine, most famous for its "floating" torii gate, has a niche as a water-placed wonder, which we don't have many of)

MIDDLE EAST
GEORGIA:
Narikala Fortress (first built in the 4th century, this fortress overlooks the Georgian capital of Tblisi, acting as its main defense well into the late 17th century)

OCEANIA
MAORI: Tūrangawaewae
(a marae that is the headquarters of the Maori Kīngitanga movement, and the official residence of the Maori monarch)

Most of the Wonder choices I have on my mind are the result of having put a concept together, and that admittedly affects my choice criteria; I typically decide on a mechanic/gameplay style to focus on after preliminary research, further refine that direction as I pick the uniques, and then after all is set in stone I try to find a wonder that works with that "story." Thus, culturally significant buildings that are more obscure tend to work their way in, which I know many don't like and also feel more out-of-place being built by other civs. Nevertheless, here are those wonder picks (excluding ones already posted):

Is there a specific Chemamull, or group of them, that stands out from the rest? I'm not aware of any. :dunno:

Updated Inuit and Safavid.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find anything particularly special that really stood out. As a last resort, it might be possible to use a village, but I didn’t come across anything noteworthy in my research either.

On a related note, I see that the Qajar have the Grand Bazaar from the Naqshe-e Jahan Square as their probabale Associated Wonder. They should have had the Nasir-ol-Mulk Mosque instead

Pretty sure that is just the Grand Bazaar located in Istanbul. It's out in the game right now with the other world wonders.

Did some cursory research and the only idea I came up with was the fort at Peteroa, a later defensive position for Lautaro's forces that was constructed rather than captured. It's also far from ideal, though: the appearance would have to be almost entirely speculative due to a lack of records, and although it was built as part of a promising advance during which many subjugated groups were inspired to revolt and it was able to repel initial Spanish attacks, attempts to push further forward were driven back by the members of the Promaucae people who didn't join up with him, and when the Spanish arrived in full force it lead to catastrophic losses and a retreat that barely avoided interception by Spanish troops. Not really much of an inspiring a story to base a Mapuche wonder off of...

I'm not particularly sold on the Keet Seel for the Navajo, even though both @Xandinho and @Lord Lakely have it. Even though it is located in Navajo territory, its creators were the ancient Pueblo, not the Navajo, and timeline wise it's a lot older (around the 1200s apparently) than the Navajo's proposed Modern Era status. I'm personally still pulling for the Navajo Nation Council Chamber.

the picture shows the Golestan Palace. Perfect choice for Qajars.

I like new wonders, so in the unlikely case we‘d see Tibet, I’d prefer Kumbum Chörten (for the looks) or Jokhang (as main temple of the empire).

If they get into Modern, I could also see the Code Talker Memorial.
This is one civ that would make more sense to be released with an associated natural wonder, Tségháhoodzání (Window Rock), instead of a world wonder.

There is a recent mod that gave Yamatai the Hashihaka Kofun wonder
