I always liked Ike's comment, " I studied theatrics for five years under McArthur."

I think RIII has made a good choice for Slim, especially since the rest of that theatre, read that Phillipines, was getting raked, while between Slim on the ground and the Flying Tigers in the air, the Allies were actually winning battles. which brings me to point two, where are the Japanese General officers?

Hmm. Am torn between Ike, Manstein and Zhukov...

Ike was the best overall manager and commander - but as far as inventing strategy goes, he relied more on the others and judged them. Hmm.

Manstein did a lot more of his own thinking but was more resistant to others ideas...

Zhukov. Made all his own decisions and made them stick.

I think the Russki wins it for his personal example at Stalingrad. That''s the sort of leadership-combined-with-strategy that the others lacked.
